brenda, it seems worth it if you can swing it -- time off from work or whatever, so you're not stressed yourself while there.
Yikes, Brenda. I know that brand of brother-worry. Good brother-vibes to you (and him).
Pix, paws crossed for that sweet puppy.
Healthy puppy ~ma, Pix
That's rough, brenda. I hope you can figure something out to give him some support. I'm glad your SiL reached out to you.
My generic Dayquil is wearing off. On the one hand: that's good as it seems to confirm that it's helping with my symptoms. On the other: argh, I forgot to bring additional doses with me and now I know I could feel better.
Oh Brenda, that sucks!
Poor puppers. All my paws are crossed!
Shadow and I are negotiating the revised occupation of the bed at night. I've shifted over to the middle, but I'm apparently encroaching on his favored pillow area. Granted, I'm the human, he's the cat, but he knows how to pluck at things at 3 AM in order to wake the human up. And he's always slept in the bed, so it behooves me to see his side of things. I've apparently covered up the section where he wants to sleep, so I'm going to have to rearrange things. Because having a purring cat wrapped around my arm is a good way to a good night's sleep.
Oh man, brenda. It does sound like it would be great if you can get down there. Is he acknowledging this stuff, or is your SIL extrapolating? That seems like it would make a big difference. Good luck to all of you guys.
And also good luck to Pix's foster dog!

It generally works for me.
Brenda, I hope things work out for you brother.
Puppy~ma, Pix.

No idea.
You can't 'fix' him, but you can sure let him know you care enough to put yourself out, and remind him that he's got support if he wants to accept it.
Both of my brothers, whom I would have thought to characterize as guys who have it together, have both entered middle age in distress, including alcoholism/alcohol abuse. Their careers as cops are way stressful, plus some serious physical crap (tonsil cancer, in one case, which sounds funny until it isn't) really have done a number for them both.
