I want to torture you. I used to love it, and it's been a long time. I mean, the last time I tortured someone, they didn't even have chainsaws.

Though I think it's super expensive to live in Dublin? Or did it crash? It may still not compare to Silicon Valley though.

From what I read on blogs, rents and mortgages are on the rise again in Dublin.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Dammit, I forgot to swing by the farmer's market on the way home. Not that I particularly need anything, I just like to go see what's available, mostly. But I'm home now, so probably not gonna happen today.

Next week is Bike to Work Week, I just found out. I think I might do that. The shortest/most direct route will be closed while they work on the railroad tracks, but that's kinda good because the slightly longer route is probably safer and having that decision made for me simplifies things. The longer route being 2.9 miles instead of 2.1 miles

Good luck, Sue!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I don't get people who tell you not to let something upset you. To not think about. My ED basically told me that letting my family issues affect me causes me stress and decreases my job performance, so try not to do that, yeah?

How I feel is not a choice!

Also, taking a comp day on Monday for working Saturday so I can spend time with my mother on Mothers Day does not make me a disloyal employee. I have sacrificed so much for this job to the point that my family hates it. Don't fucking begrudge me a shifted schedule during this situation. I still can't get why people think he's a wonderful man with a big heart. He's the most cold, calculating, and ruthless person that I know. He's just really good at faking it to the point that maybe even he believes it.

Our local ABC station is interrupting Grey's a Anatomy for a conference on Tom Brady.

Thanks! It's kind of a shot in the dark, but you never know. I've applied for several of these international jobs and the one in The Hague where I got an interview was the only one I even got a response from. I also applied for one in New York, but I am a bit under qualified for it, and I suspect the competition would be tougher for that.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congratulations, juliana!

I think Dublin would be an adventure, but maybe seven months in that would wear a bit. Still, everyone I've talked to who has gone there really liked it.

Juliebird, I'm sorry about your smiling jerkface of an ED. I hope your brother can get help that stops him from hurting you and the rest of your family.

Dublin was my least favorite part of my trip to Ireland, but it may have just been the location of our hotel.

I vote for Dublin because how often do you get the chance??

Well, it's one of our hub offices, so chances actually are not infrequent.

And I'm sure there's Dublin-Chicago flights--it's gotta be only a couple hours more th a flying from San Francisco surely?

Nonstop Dublin-Chicago is 7 hours 40 minutes. My family doesn't live in Chicago, though. The shortest flight Dublin-Michigan I've seen is about 11 hours.

SFO-Chicago is about 4-5 hours. SFO-Michigan is about 7 hours.

Though I think it's super expensive to live in Dublin?

The cost of living calculators are putting it close to Chicago, although who knows if they're accurate.

I'm hitting the usual point in spring where my reawakened ambitions collide with shit that has to get done and I end up paralyzed and feeling crappy about adulting. Awesome.
