Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
After two hours of waiting the bee that's been buzzing around my central window finally tired itself out enough for me to move it near an open window and let it escape.
This would have been so much easier if it were a wasp or fly; just spritz, swat!, and into the trash.
My parents oldest son is not going to jail. Fuck.
He's doing an outpatient detox program, whoopty-doo. He charmed the judge with a song and dance and they bought it. I'm not surprised, this is the guy whose arresting officer back in the nineties who gave him a character reference in court.
Balls.
You guys, remember King Peggy? I totally met her at the Ghanaian embassy today! (and she's worth googling if you don't know her...)
She's amazing, Jesse! Go you!
Oh, wow, Jesse! That's a red-letter day.
I spent today at the 100th anniversary thingy at the refinery where my dad worked. It was extremely interesting (they are clearly working on community outreach and had experts from many departments who were very happy to talk about their subjects) and all the food was really good but now I am tired. Which doesn't seem right because it was hardly strenuous, but there was a lot of standing around while looking at things and I am not used to that anymore, I guess.
Oh, hey, I think I still have a bag of Smartfood in my tote bag. Dinner!
Whoa, Jesse. That is cool.
Did folks here see the video of the woman who's phone was smashed by the police? She's a friend of mine. Frances has been friends with her daughter since 4th grade. I just found out today. And the story behind the raid she was filming is so friggin' problematic; all those guns, and they didn't arrest anyone because NOTHING ILLEGAL was going on. Crazy. Just in case you haven't seen it, here's a news story on it: link She's been a community activist for years, but she has been shocked by the reaction to the video.
I am encouraging her to write about it.
My toenails hurt.
Ended up coming home just after curfew. Exhausted, wedding was fabulous, danced too much and something had me go barf and feel instantly better after. Twice. Which led me to chose not to camp out in someone else's room. Just hormones and sugar and the craziness of today, I expect. But was able to bring bouquets and gifts & centerpieces home. And I'll see them tomorrow for the rest of the cleanup.
Yeah, that was a good, if abruptly ended, party.
Yay for a good day, sarameg.
The only time I cried was at the opening of the ceremony: Joe's friend and the marrier started out with their feelings about what's going on which caused the schedule change and all. It was a lovely tribute to the protests and Baltimore and the spirit of the city. I'm gonna try to get a copy to share. And of course they'd do that, integrate it into their marriage ceremony, because they love this place so. And I love em even more for it.
(Can't sleep, 16 hrs of on have completely frazzled me.)
The full moon is coming through my office window, and I can see it clearly. So happy I had that surgery.
