I am so sad and sorry about Baltimore, Lisah and Sarameg, and Maria. I should probably be angry too, but my rage reserves seem empty right now.
This.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

The Chicago Tribune has a short article on the train/pedestrian accident but it doesn't say much. But there are two comments to the story by witnesses that made me glad I didn't get a better view of the body. Ugh.
My train was one stop away when it happened. If the guy had arrived at the next station a little later (and assuming it was a suicide) it could have been my train that he stepped in front of.
Also, when my bus drove past the body, about half of the people sitting stood up to get a better view. I did too. Human nature....
Is it SO HARD to say the name of the street???
My mother once gave me directions that included, "Turn where the tree used to be." (There used to be a giant tree at that corner. Then someone cut it down. So whenever she gets to that corner, she is startled by the lack of tree.)
Timelies all!
Hugs for all who want/need them.
Not billytea but I'm pretty sure it's a shark, possibly a zebra shark. I like zebra sharks.
Yep, zebra shark. (Wikipedia claims that it sometimes gets called the leopard shark, which makes more sense given it's covered in spots, except there's already a shark called a leopard shark. Young zebra sharks are stripier, which is presumably how they got the name.)
I bought this fancy Bluetooth-controlled LED light. I just used the iPhone app to set it to cycle continiously through all seven or so colors. Then I turned the rest of the lights off.
This is my happening and it freaks me out!
I don't know if I'm more appalled about Baltimore or Nepal.
This was me all day. Plus, just before I went to bed I got some push-back on the Baltimore related links I was posting on Facebook.
Unfortunately for me, I have a group of friend that know me from when we were serving in the Army as MPs. Most of them are still in law enforcement and definitely not sympathetic to the anger over police violence against black people.
I watched my many worlds collide as the majority of my left-leaning friends engaged with that particular group.
I may have lost a few, and that makes me sad, but not sadder than the appalling state of racial violence makes me.
