I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I hope you hear from her soon, Anne.

In hindsight, deciding to just update the OS real quick before I went to bed was not smart. I should have been able to realize that at the time. Otoh, is it ever a good time to update the OS?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh msbelle, that's a lot of WTH to deal with. We've put off Isaac's birthday party AS USUAL because I can't deal with end of semester and a party all at once. But will do a family celebration of some sort tomorrow.

7.8 earthquake hit Kathmandu

Can't process that right now. Yipes!

As for Folly, I wish I could say she's doing better but she's really not. She threw up blood last night, which scared the behootsies out of me. But I am loathe to take her to an emergency vet clinic if this is just a really bad reaction to the sedation she got yesterday because I am worried one more big stress will kill her. And the other possibility is a heart attack, but even then the emergency vet seems like a scary place. The vet yesterday kind of implied the kindest thing to do was take her home and make her comfy, so that's what we are doing. He gave her a beta blocker, so I gave her that this morning. She's drinking still, and she's curled next to me right now.

We are kind of mad at the vet for not warning us about possibilities like throwing up blood. He did, in fairness, suggest to us that a heart attack was imminent, but he didn't warn us what that might look like.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

((((Burrell and Folly))))

I hope her last days will be comfortable.

sarameg, thank you for those links.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I am not a vet, but I've never heard of throwing up blood being a sign of a heart attack. Yikes. Poor Folly.

Are you giving Folly any nsaids?

me neither Zen, but I am just making inferences based on what I know occurred yesterday. Vomiting is very common with anesthesia, which is why that's my first guess, but heart attack seems not impossible. Either way, just trying to keep her calm.

He wants her on a low dose aspirin, Ginger, in addition to the beta blocker.

The status is NOT quo.

Burrell, I’m so sorry about your kitty.

People, I am futless and need motivation. I have a ton of work to do this weekend—a final project for my grad class (due in a week and I’ve barely started) and a ton of grading—and I need to go grocery shopping (we don’t even have milk and we’re out of dishwashing tabs), but I want to go to brunch with someone first. This is when working the exact opposite schedule of the people I love in the area sucks a lot. I like being alone a lot of the time, but even an introvert needs some company sometimes.
