You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

I'm waiting for FedEx to deliver my new computer. I can't leave or take a shower until they show up.

My office is doing a recycling event for Earth Day, so today I've been preparing all the old electronics I have yet to take to Best Buy. I've got the dead desktop machine unplugged and ready for recycling. I have a bag of random cords and old keyboards and mice and an ancient KVM switch that I unearthed from a box under my bed. I just need the new desktop so I can create a boot disk to wipe my old Windows XP machine because the elderly beast is still running.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We have 5K-ed! And wow, did we ever earn those capes.

The 5K unexpectedly turned into a combination hike/mud run. Just this week (so, extremely late notice) the park where it was held told the organizers that the route had to go through a wooded trail for part of the 5K. Turns out it was at least half of the route, and it was QUITE a hike. Big hills. Very big hills. Also mud and puddles left over from this week's rain, as well as all the roots and fallen trees that one finds on a wooded hike. (The wooded part of the route was really pretty, though, so there's that.)

Tim and I finished in 1:10, but I am really happy with that, considering how fucking hard the route was. My original goal had been to finish in under an hour, but that was back when I thought the 5K would be a more-or-less flat, paved route.

Had we known ahead of time that it was steep hills through a muddy woods, I wouldn't have done it. But it was a nice day, and we had fun with our friends who walked it with us, and WE GOT CAPES!

I am beat, and we need to go to a family birthday party soon. Time to rally.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

RIP Gilbert Blythe

Aw, man, that's terrible. I loved him.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Woo, Tep!

My first 5K was also a hilly muddy mess, but I at least knew that was likely when I signed up. And it was awesome and badass. So I am sure you are more awesome and badass because (a) surprise and (b) capes!

My plan for today was to watch recorded TV and Netflix in between lackadaisically cleaning. So far I have only managed the TV part.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Woo, Steph!

hip deep in pie

I thought I had the Anne series, but I don't.

Steph, my walk home is a little under 5k, paved and downhill and it regularly takes me 50-55 mins. That's a really good time for muddy and hilly.

I had some strawberries that I let sit too long, so rather than throwing them out, I'm macerating them in rum, vanilla, sugar, and a dash of cayenne.

Yay 5K and capes!

I got up and did yoga, and met some new folks and had brunch with them. Now I am sore and tired, but it's SUCH a pretty day out...I feel I should enjoy it.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Go, Teppy!

The diabetic counselor said I could have a little bit of Quick (1 tsp instead of the 2 tbs serving size) in my milk for an afternoon snack. It is not a milkshake, but it may keep me from losing my mind in the next 4 months.
