I decided to sleep late today and take the train after the one I usually take to work. But after I got to the station my train-tracker app showed the train was stopped for some reason before our stop. After the train didn't move for ten minutes I decided to walk home and take my car to work, as they weren't telling us when the train would move again.
So it took me an hour and a half to get to work counting the 40 minutes walking to and from the train station. And the train ended up getting to Highland Park a few minutes before me anyway.
It's weird that they didn't know, yeah. You'd think someone involved in setting it up would have at least seen the course before they decided to use it.
The email sounds like the park district JUST told the organizers yesterday or today that the 5K has to use the wooded trail. So I'm mostly annoyed at the park district and feel like calling them.
Unpaved might actually be pretty stable though - it's not necessarily going to be just a mud track through the woods, it might be a surface that is technically not paved but not, like, a bare trail.
That's true -- a lot of park trails have wood chips, I think. I still just feel like this really fucks with the people who are running it (as opposed to people like me who are walking it) -- I think if you aren't used to trail running, are you really going to want to run a 5K through unfamiliar woods? I can walk an unfamiliar trail, no problem. Running seems a little different, though.
Maybe it'll be really pretty and I'll be glad they switched. We'll see. But I am by god EARNING this medal.
ION, I had a sexy RDJ dream last night.
It was awesome!

I have only ever done 5Ks on unfamiliar trails, so I don't know. But I understand not everyone prefers trail running like I do, so it is probably a concern to at least some.
Careful with those capes! This is the one with capes, yes?
I was poking around craigslist's "creative gigs" section and found this:
Looking for Promo/Street Team Girls for a Musician (Chicago)
Looking for promo girls and street team girls. Between the ages of 18-35. Preferably over 21. Looking for girls to accompany musician to events, shows, and other outings. Must be willing and able to party/socialize with fans. Please contact through email. This is a paid gig.
Is this guy (sounds like a guy) looking to hire an entourage of women to follow him around? Is this common?

This is the one with the capes!
OMG, one of the assistants here is such a bad assistant! He's setting up a call, and gives the main person's cell phone number for the outside person to call. I asked if main person was going to be out of the office, and he is not. So I suggest he give the number for the speaker phone in his office. The assistant says, "I have no idea what that number is." OK, can you find out? "I mean, I would have to find it physically on the phone...?" Right. Our office is not that big. So he just added a conference line to the meeting. It is a two-party call! ISTG.
That is crazy, Jesse.
Just got a call from my loan officer about the verification of rent statement they just got back. It says I've lived here for a year (I've been in this apartment a year but in the community for 7 - so ok, no big) and that I've had 15 late payments.
Twelve months. Fifteen late payments. How does that work and why didn't the person filling out the form not go - huh, that looks odd. I've had 1, count them 1, late payment in the last year and it was cause I paid after hours on the due date. My bad...but seriously. ONCE.
I talked to the only seemingly sane person in the rental office, am having the form re-faxed to him to complete and send back. OY.
My early conference call is for global reasons, but I remain unconvinced that I need to be on the call. Plus, Tuesdays are rehearsal days, which makes for a long day and a grumpy me.
