Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

I am 12, because I just got this email and had to tell you all about it: "I would like to draw your attention to five positions that are open at the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) as part of the DFG-funded IANUS project. IANUS is establishing a research data centre for Classics and Archaeology in Germany."

It is unclear from the message, most of which is in German, what IANUS stands for.

Well, I went immediately to a Latin place and thought Janus.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

So it has begun. It was a deliciously gorgeous day and I have started to compile a list on my boss. Ooh, just remembered two more things!

Gorgeous out, I tell ya.

In other, uh, related news, which I draw the line at sharing on Facebook, my 8 year old pooped at school yesterday. Incroyable!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have decided it's time to bust out a classic: matzo topped with tomato paste and mozzarella and heated in the toaster oven.

I need help reacting to that, flea.

I'm guessing that until now your 8 year old would hold it and only poop at home for reasons?

BTW, Teppy, how are Dad and the dog?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Dad update: the angiogram showed no blockage, and his cardiologist said that the change in the cardiac enzyme levels wasn't large enough to indicate a heart attack. So basically, his heart is fine. He has some serious gastointestinal stuff to sort out, but he already has an appointment scheduled next week for that.

Kato update: he doesn't have any kind of parasite or other infection, so the vet isn't sure why Kato is having gastrointestinal unrest. He gets more antibiotics and really expensive prescription super-low-fat food, to see if that gets things back in line. If not, the next step is blood tests to see if he has liver or pancreatic disease.

The rest of the household is in good health. Or good *enough*, and I call that a win.

The pooping pattern of my 8 year old is very rigid. He will only poop at home. He has a ritual involving squatting and playing ipad games. Keeping him unconstipated is one of the constant chores of our life (usually mr. flea's, thank heavens, due to our longstanding "I do vomit, he does shit" agreement.)

Yay for the proper functioning of loved one's bodily systems!
