Sorry, not meeting, community workshop.
Amy, I'm glad you had such a lovely day.
Many small Southern towns had a "Jew store," some dating back to the era of Jewish peddlers. There's a good, but ultimately sad, memoir, i The Jew Store, about one in Tennessee. The small town were I went to high school had one, Friedlander's, which had grown beyond its humble origins to be the only building in town with an elevator. The nearest synagogue was 40 miles away. In addition to the extended Friedlander family, the only other Jewish person in town ran the shoe store. He and my mother bonded over shoes and outsiderness. She teased him about settling down, and he once responded, "Who would I marry?"
When Calvin Trillin was covering the Civil Rights movement in the South, on occasion local Jews realized he would be the 10th man in the area and hastily put together a service.

Wow. Never thought about that.
My day really was lovely. And my tattoo is on the inside of my right wrist: Write your own ending.
Happy birthday Amy!
Keep believing, keep pretending....
Good one, Amy!
OK, that was, in fact, a workshop and not a meeting, and a pretty good one. Glad I went. If nothing else, I stuck my oar in for more/better bike paths and walkways, and championed production/retail combos (cabinet making shop, perhaps another small brewery, etc) and argued against high-priced condos along every inch of the waterfront. So that's something. Two more meetings this month (and I think they are actually meetings) I don't know if I can manage those. We'll see.
I'm on my way to my office because I have an 8:30am class. The class lasts three hours. But hey, at least I legitimately can ignore my inbox all morning?
Always knew shrift had a lot of class.
Sorry, sorry, low-hanging fruit.
It's raining and I am sorely tempted to work from home. Actually, I am tempted to stay home and read murder mysteries, maybe make some soup, so I'd best go into the office where I will actually work. Sigh.
