I love wifi with the same fervor with which I love central air. (A LOT.)
I took a walk the other day, and some kids had drawn on the sidewalk in front of their house with chalk. One of the things they drew was a wifi symbol. It made me laugh.

Hah! The iconography of the new millenium.
I clipped TNG's nails and took the dogs for a walk, and now I'm just about to eat the coconut oatmeal from this blog, to which I added a little maple syrup and some chopped pecans. I hope it's good.
Later I will trek into the city to see my niece play Ultimate frisbee, and then meet up with my brother, get my dad, and go make dinner for 8. Happily, the apricot-almond tart looks pretty good, so one thing at least is taken care of. I'm thinking about making this groundnut stew because it's awesome.
Oh, sadness: James Garner died.
Oh, sad about James Garner. I had such a crush on him in The Rockford Files.
Typo, much health~ and no-bleeding~ma to you and your mom! How did you tear your rotator cuff? I don't even know what a rotator cuff is, exactly. Sounds quite painful.
What is it about this summer? Everyone I know is tired all the time. Even my sister, who is normally a tiny hurricane of activity. I did about an hour of yardwork yesterday and was exhausted the rest of the day. This summer isn't more humid than usual, and it's actually been a little cooler than normal, so I can't blame the weather.
I contemplated getting up and going running before I'm supposed to meet my coworker. And then I hit snooze a few times, and then read some internet, and then decided I didn't have enough time. So I'm eating waffles instead.
I woke up from a dream where I was on this bizarrely configured plane, which had SUPER tiny seats, but all along one side of the plane? And it was so uncomfortable, and the lady next to me was HUGE and I was apparently traveling to London (??) so I knew it was going to be a long long flight, and was thinking "Why would I book an economy ticket? This was not worth it!" I have no idea where that dream came from. So weird.

It's a bunch of tendons and muscles in the shoulder that stabilize your shoulder and let it -- ta-da! -- rotate. Injury/tearing is common in baseball pitchers, as an example.
A tear is in the tendon. It happened to my dad, and surgery reattaches the tendon to the bone. His was a fairly quick and easy outpatient surgery. Recover is longer than you'd think, though.
A common non-tear injury is tendonitis, from repetitive use, like a baseball pitcher. It can also get injured/inflamed from trauma, like -- for example -- falling while skiing and landing hard on your shoulder. That would be me. The orthopedist said he had never seen a shoulder injury from skiing (it's usually knees). But mine wasn't a tear; it was just horribly inflamed, and drugs and PT fixed it.
This has been your Medical Science Minute.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my right shoulder is getting to the tendonitis stage. It's achy and hurts very frequently. The level of pain and frequency are increasing, so that's not fun.
Rotator cuff injuries are no joke - my mom has destroyed both of hers (one car accident, one bike accident), and the second surgery had complications that extended recovery time to over a year. (The surgeon stretched a nerve and there's basically no treatment for that other than wait for the nerve to fix itself, and nerves grow reeeeeaaaalllllyyyyy slloooooooooowwwllllyyyy.)
Vacuuming is hazardous to my safety. Rapidly darkening bruise in the middle of my back.
Sounds like you should not vacuum anymore!
You know, if someone offered me a deal where I sign over my house and in exchange get to live in a dormitory with housekeeping and meals provided I would seriously consider it. My house being far from paid for would complicate the deal, but still.
