You know when you can't ever type a particular word correctly even though you know how to spell it?
My fingers always want to put a b in numerous even though my brain knows it doesn't belong.

jounral. Which comes up very frequently when you work at an academic library.
What?!? That is bananas. Not the meet-ups, the physical confrontation at work. The meet-ups sound like a good idea!
Edit: Clearly I didn't refresh the page! That was for msbelle, obviously.
I know I've seen good advice about how to approach requests for salary requirements in the early stages of the hiring process but I can't remember where!
Try askamanager? In my position, I've never had a problem being ballsy about it, but my job involves asking for money! Even with my person I'm promoting, I was afraid my boss would be pissed about what she asked for, but no. She's not getting it, but my boss agreed with me on appreciating the moxie.
Ooh, that is drama.
My sis gave notice at her job yesterday, several weeks sooner than she planned to. She had to sign and email a contract to the new job, and used the scanner at work. Then a client needed her attention, and by the time she went back to delete it from the scanner someone had put a hold on the doc so that only an administrator could delete it! Most likely her toxic boss, who is big part of why she needs out of that place so bad anyway. She was panicking that she was going to be fired over it.
I told her to go straight inside and send a meeting request to her boss and grandboss and give her notice right away - get out in front of it instead of waiting for boss to react.
Grandboss was supportive, boss was snippy in a way that made it clear she had seen the doc and (I believe) probably was just waiting for the end of the day to fire her.
Phew. Her end date is not for six weeks and she really needs the income up until then. And not for nothing it's certainly satisfying that she snatched her boss's gotcha moment away.
Ooh, that stuff is always so fraught! Glad she got in front of it, and has the six weeks.
Try askamanager?
Yes! That was it. I knew Jesse would know.
I'm not really afraid of asking but I don't want to price myself out too early. I'd actually be willing to take less than I make now, if I thought the position was worth it. But I don't want to undersell myself either.
Well played, Brenda's sister!

Browswer. For years now. Yes, I am a web developer.
Yikes with the drama llama work stuff!
The problem with getting to the office so early is that I am already starving. I think I need a snack because I'm starting to get cranky and growl at my inbox.

In a letter, I've said something like, "I'm interested in a salary in the range of X-Y, but am glad to discuss in more detail." You can put X close to your current salary, if you'd be willing. Or honestly, just skip it!
I'm having tortellini from Panera for lunch, and I'm a little afraid it's not going to be satisfying, even though it's got plenty of calories! Hmph.
