Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Huh, Gris, didn't realize you knew Seanan, too. I enjoy her immensely.
Let us know how the schmancy dinner was!
We have a home warranty through State Farm, and it's been pretty awesome when our basement flooded, and when we just had to get the AC and furnace fixed up for the selling process.
At yoga tonight, a mellow candlelight Yin class, some wench's phone went off TWICE, a loud, full-on ringing. RUDE. WTF? It's like, basic courtesy.
What the shit? She didn't turn it off after the first time? Rude.
I think the sewer is covered by the HOA - I haven't gotten their documents yet and that is one thing I know I'm looking for.
I do not have a home warranty. But one of the reasons I bought my house is because it was only 7 years old, so I figured maintenance would be minimal (old enough to get the kinks out, young enough to not fall apart yet). Of course, now that it's more like 13 years old, I expect the water heater and fridge and dishwasher and washer dryer will probably all die at the same time!
I'd seen the week thing before, but it still amazes me.
My favorite part of that argument was this:
Can you lend me $800? I'll pay you back $100 every other day for 2 weeks. Sound cool?

Same here. Mine was built in 1998. I'll need a new water heater in a few months, I expect, and a new roof in a couple years, but overall the place is sound. In this case, I'd rather pay for what I need as I need it. But if I had an old house, with the surprises that always come with, I definitely would get a home warranty.
I have an old house with lots of surprises a d we still skipped out on the home warranty. Too many bad stories of them insisting on crappy service organizations or failing to follow through. Probably a good idea to resear h and get a good one but I prefer the control of pay as you go.
The dinner was amazing.
Gris, I'm glad your splurge was such a delight.
One of the rotten parts of working the shifts I work is that I'm accustomed to getting to bed around 2am. So when there is a staff meeting or some other reason to get up early and I try to go to bed before midnight, I end up waking up in the small hours of the night, and can't get back to sleep until 5ish. Staff meeting this morning at 8. Which is not too horrible, at least I can duck out early because I went to another staff meeting at a different house last week which will cover some of the same topics (and yes, I already asked bosslady to cover those at the end).
I got word yesterday that a lady who had lived at a house I used to work at, but eventually got transfered to a nursing home due to increasing medical needs as she aged, has passed away. Her funeral is this morning. I'll probably be able to make it, the timing should work. I may not go, though. I'm so tired right now, but just can't sleep.
