Our wings are not tired.

Yes, despite both of my mom's parents being diabetic my mother never had an issue with sugar. And she never let a pastry pass her by, and still doesn't. She'll be 93 next month. Her heart valves aren't in great shape but the cardiologist says it isn't for any reason other than her age. They be tired.

While my sister got lung cancer just from living with a smoker. She has never smoked. Her doctor said flat out that she smoked for 18 years by living with her smoking father.

We all have our individual strengths and weaknesses. When we figure out what they are we can make changes accordingly. DH has a super heart. Always has had great blood pressure and enviable pulse and such. No cholesterol. Man can eat bacon daily. Me, not so much.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I love sweet things, it's a problem. Particularly when life is difficult. I really do need to cut back on the sugars, and only eat them when they're really worth it.

Anyway, back in the ER with Dad, as he woke up barfing. Whatever is going around at the facility, he's got it. I had four appointments today, and I had to cancel them all. Argh.

OMG. My brother is such an idiot. #1, don't stir shit about immigration on the facebook page of someone who IS AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER. She knows more than you do, bozo. #2, arguing that immigrants are awful is really quite priceless coming from someone who has been WORKING IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC for the past 7 or 8 years! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, BROTHER? Magically your immigrant labor is so much better/more useful because...you are a college educated white man? Um. YOU DON"T SPEAK CZECH. And there are probably a LOT more Czechs willing to take your call center job than there are Americans willing to take day laborer/landscape/whatever jobs that those immigrants here you hate are taking.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Randomly, and for your entertainment, a picture of me in roller skates, from last week: [link] (My SiL may have gotten pictures of me flailing my way around the rink...but I kind of hope not.)

This is the skating rink that is, indeed, on the second floor, above the post office: [link] It may be a death trap, but it has fantastic original wooden floors.

While watching "Hansel and Gretel Witchhunters", at the shirtless pond scene, when Hansel scurries away as Mina takes off her dress to take a dip, I was reminded of that meme of the octopus scuttling off camera going "Nope nope nope."

Though Hansel was, of course, persuaded that skinny dipping was fun for all.

I love the nopetopus so much. AND Jeremy Renner. And his arms.

I was all "dude, you're spending too much time with your sister! Beautiful women are throwing themselves at you!" Though it was sweet the way he slept on the floor next to Gretel's bed--then rolled underneath it when he wanted to get more sleep.

It's possible I spent more time just watching him than worrying about the rest of the movie.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

My folks are in for the weekend. Have to find something to do with them that doesn't require a lot of walking, as my mom's sciatica has flared up.
