Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

If you know where I work, you may have seen us in the news this week.... ugh. These are the times that checking email on the weekend pays off, though -- my grandboss asked for some information by 9:30 tomorrow, and I got back to him in a couple of hours.

I DID see your company in the news, Jesse. How stressful. Go you with getting stuff done?

At some point today I need to do an hour or two of work, but I really don't wanna. OTOH, I know me, and I will probably tell myself late tonight that I will just get up and do it in the morning (I have a 9AM meeting that the work needs to be done prior to). And I know I won't, actually. Or will only do a small part of it. Sigh.

Yesterday I ran a 5K in the morning and then went to the outlet mall with a friend, and apparently that was TOO MUCH, because I then went to sleep around 10PM and didn't wake up until 10AM this morning. Dang. But it is cold and rainy here, which is excellent, because then I feel less impetus to go enjoy the unusually sunny weather (which we've been having recently, and has made slothfulness on weekends feel even more wasteful than usual!) May try to convince coworker to come over and set up her Wii.

Well frack. I hate bidding wars. Looks like the highest offer on the house I want is $20k more than my highest offer. I can't meet or exceed that.

We are going to look at a few more places today. I don't have high hopes, just need to see them before I can officially knock them off my list of maybes.

Seems like houses like the one I offered on are all going to be bidding wars. In the time I've been looking (including the unofficial looking) I haven't seen similar properties come up. So disappointed.

Just remember that you can wait. We'd been actively looking for more than a year for the house we're buying (including making one offer and getting outbid, and going under contract and backing out after inspection.)

In other housing news, the seller of our house reported bed bugs were discovered when she was moving out. Apparently not too bad, as she had not noticed and it was found when they were dis-assembling a bed. They have had Terminix in, and I think they are supposed to come back (we haven't had details on treatment yet). The house will be empty (except for tools and stuff) for a month before we move in. How much should I be worried?

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Yay, meara! Of course you needed a ton of rest after all your exertion.

Last night was kind of surreal. I was introduced, at a restaurant, to Cary Elwes, who stood up like a gentleman and shook my hand,

I want to lick your hand.

Anyone have brilliant thoughts about how to get to Montreal for 4th of July weekend, without breaking the bank? I can't figure out a good way. Stupid organization, trying to really mean "international" when they say it...ugh. I want to go to the convention, and see my friends, but I"m not sure my friends will even BE there, because it's so expensive!

Flea, bedbugs can survive 2-3 months without a meal, per the internet. But if they're having someone come in and spray....

I'd say a month-long empty house gives you the freedom to significantly up the ante on pesticides, if the Terminex people haven't already done so.

Ugh, Airline prices here are so bad. I thought the oil tanking would help, but our $ is tanking against the US dollar. My friend and I have been looking for tickets for London in the fall and the prices are going up, not down.

I would think that doing most of your flying in the US would be cheapest.

meara - Mar 15, 2015 11:00:35 am PDT #22291 of 30000

Yeah, I tried looking at the Burlington airport, and at other places that are driving distance, but none of it seems cheaper enough to be worth the savings (if, after car rental or bus and such there would even be any savings left). It's not even cost-effective to drive to Vancouver and fly from there, or anything.
