We still have no phones, Internet, or access to server. My boss said to not stay here all day, so I am taking off soon. Gonna try my luck with a long put off errand to social security for name change on mac's card.
More house-ma to Suzi! LUCK!
Go, Connie, on the raise!
Maria, Steph, I hear you on the working from home -- I love it, it works so well with my weird mental issues smorgasbord, but it's ALWAYS THERE, leering at me with something else I could be, should be doing, whether it's a project, marketing, blogging, tweaking my currently pathetic website, filing, whatever.
Got three hours of sleep last night (woken up at 7 by Realtor call, couldn't get back to sleep with All The Things To Do lurking outside the bedroom) so I'm powering through the day.
Argh. Apparently could not brane yesterday, and suggested to someone in the midwest that I could meet at 10:30AM their time. Then promptly put it on my calendar at 12:30 my time. DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Maria, Steph, Strix... The laptop is waiting. It needs us. There is work to be done. There is always work. In the swirling chaos of life, work is the only constant. At work, you always know what to do. At work, your emotions can be set aside. At work, you are too busy to think about your problems. Work loves you. Come to work.
Hi, my name is Zen, and I'm a workaholic.
As a contractor, I am limited in terms of how much time I can spend at work per week.
So when my 40 is up, no matter where I am, the laptop is closed.
At Real Work, I checked my mail all the time. Even on vacation. Just in case.
Ah, nothing like coming into work this morning to see the team whose day I ruined has thrown me under the bus for being the messenger.
Thanks, guys. Makes me really want to help you out next time.
People need to bow down the awesomeness that is shrift.
This waiting til late Sunday/Monday and NOT falling in love with the house and NOT making plans sucks mightily. I do not wait well. Check my tagline.
I can't distract myself with retail therapy, cause I need to hold on to what money I have. I can't even wish list shop cause that will make me think about the house and what I need for the house.
I am already hitting stir crazy. I couldn't sleep last night, so I worked for a couple of hours. Now I'm working and I want to take a nap. My brain is a mess. Can I just be put in a coma until they decide if they will take my offer over all the others that they have?
Yeah, right now there are all kinds of issues on my one project because we're using new systems and processes, and no one is QUITE sure how it should work, and no one is sure WHO should be doing the things that we don't know how they work...and half our team just got told "your choice is severance, find a new job in the company, or take a 25% paycut" and they are all flipping out, so we are reluctant to say that they'll do ANYTHING, lest they all leave/quit, and we have no one doing that and no one who knows how. But the whole point of their job was to make my job easier, so now it is none of that. Ugh. (The issue being their job is new, and the company was planning to hire people for it, but some folks in my job wanted that job, and got it when they were first creating it, but now they're cracking down on the fact that it's supposed to be a less-well-paid, less-experienced job, and they don't want to pay people like they're still doing my job). UGH>
UGH, meara. What a clusterfvck.
