I am going to run a 5K (which starts at 9:26 or whatever the appropriate next digits are...better look that up) and get pie at the end!

I don't, however, understand why after I have been attempting to run for YEARS now, I still can't run for three minutes and not have my heart rate be above what they think my max should be. Seriously, how can I STILL be so out of shape???

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Good new homes~ma to them as needs it.

Relief from overwork~ma for others.

Balsamic vinegar is yummy.

Balsamic vinegar makes any number of things better. I was thinking of suggesting adding it to the brown rice and veggie concoction that wasn't working for Zen. But I've thought better of it - Teriaki, garlic and ginger would have made that amazing - or Thai peanut sauce. Today I made a salad of thinly sliced roma tomatoes, carrots, and celery - and let it steep in balsamic vinaigrette, a leeetle bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, lots of basil, and a packet of artificial sweetener. After that stewed in its own juices for a while, I served it over chopped romaine lettuce and didn't bother with additional dressing. We had that with lemon-pepper tillapia. And I made a fruit salad of grapes, apples, oranges, vanilla yogurt, and cinnamon. Good stuff.

I hate to say it, but have you tried interval training? It's supposed to be the best way to whip your body into condition. But it's the opposite of fun.

As for other body issues, I came across a reference this week to the No S diet: No snacks, No seconds, No sweets -- except on days that start with S.

And that's the whole premise. Even if one isn't trying to lose weight, that strikes me as a very sensible way to eat healthy.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm meeting up with a friend for some kind of pie on pi day. Depending on how early we meet up, it may be quiche. But, still, pie.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wish I thought to do anything pie-related for work today! Ah well.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm not doing anything pie-related. Or pi-related.

I don't think I have any pi(e) related clothes. It's t-shirt weather today, so I'm wearing my Clash "London Calling" t-shirt. I suppose at least one clash member has had pie at some time in his life.

Perhaps the guy on the t-shirt design is smashing his guitar because he's just been told that tonight he shall have no pie.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

tommy, I know the perfect place for pie, well, actually three places all owned by the same family--Monty's Blue Plate Diner, Bluephies, and the Hubbard Avenue Diner. We just won't go during a meal time, UW men's basketball means Madison is going to be overrun with alumni and they're going to take over all the best restaurants.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Maria, rather than burnout, could it just be TOO FUCKING MUCH WORK?

It's entirely possible. I've had to toss RFPs to the side just because we don't have the time to respond to them. I could spend my entire life at work just responding to RFPs and be swamped, but I also have other duties. I'm beginning to dislike working from home, because the computer is there and I can just hop on for a "quick second" to take care of something. Two hours later, I surface.
