Timelies all!
House~ma, Suzi.
Major house-ma, Suzi, mah sistah in housing anxiety issues!
We had the inspection yesterday, still waiting for the full reveal, but structurally, the house is sound, with just a few mainly cosmetic thing suggested, not mandated. I don't think.
Got the AC fixed today, for a $95 copay from our house warranty. Chimney guy was out, but since the buyers knew the chiwney was inoperable when they made the offer and that we'd never fixed it because it would be PRICE-Y (house was built in 1929) the over $3000 the guy quoted to bring it up to code will hopefully be something they will not require and will do on their own when they can.
Our stated close date is April 3rd, but the buyers said they would be flexible, and I hope that all the news from the inspection is all right, and that they WILL be flexible, because we have a LOT of stuff to get rid of -- I will be Craigslisting like a mad thing, and whatever doesn't sell quickly, I'll Freecycle or donate to Habitat for Humanity's store.
We've looked at 3 places; one fell through, the one yesterday was...doable, but the one today was super. It only has 2 bedrooms, AND we would have to re-home Arthur, which makes me sad, but the potential buyers have said they would foster Arthur, and the ex-wife's in-law's would also take him until the ex has her new house and could take him. I've grown to love him, but trying to rent with 3 cats and a dog is so. hard. Especially since we're so fucking broke. But I will NOT abandon any of our pets; he will go to live with Micah or with someone who will let us visit him and who we trust.
Ohgod ohgod ohgod so much to do ohgod ohgod...
Good luck, everyone!
Roasted vegetables are the best, olive oil and salt. Red potatoes with Rosemary, asparagus and Brussel sports with lemon and butter, and mum has started roasting green beans, which I've never cared for. Parsnips and sweet potatoes julienned. I also adore spinach of any sort. Sugar snaps steamed al dente with butter and salt. Broccoli with lemon, cauliflower soup yum. My grandmother made creamed carrots that were divine, but I've never been able to cook it right.
Just signed the offer to be submitted and wrote a letter to the seller to try to sway her my way (suggested both by my realtor and loan officer).
I want to just sleep until Sunday night.
Yes, but that gives you 6 months to think of some REALLY good taunts.
My best friend tries this with me, but "Still younger than you!" trumps anything he attempts.
Oh, and 'tis the season for my grandfathers cabbage, carrots, and potatoes that are cooked in with the corned beef juices in the crockpot, not steamed separately like my mom does.
So, I just heard a rumor that the head of the Classics Library at the local university is planning to retire at the end of the summer. A very well-sourced rumor. I was not expecting this for a long time (she's, I think, just 65.) In one way, it's the perfect job for me. In another way, I am not at all sure I am what they would be looking for. I am also rather wary of the politics of the situation - this is the library attached to the department where I was a PhD student. While I was well-regarded when a student, I kind of know too much about everyone to be quite at ease with then as a left-my-dissertation fugitive.
Apply anyway! All they can do is say No!
Unless they have a cadre of ninjas who hunt down people who didn't finish their dissertations.
Only got to swim 1/4 of my usual because pool had to close and they weren't sure if they'd reopen for over an hour. Cranky. And I brouhgt them cookies. (In fairness, it was a sub guard who messed it up, so I'm not mad at our staff.)
