Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Oooh, that's good to know, -t. I was wondering about that. I think I may have to upgrade to an iPad, soon, though; I feel like the Kindle is so limited in ways it doesn't need to be. If I can rent the thing directly on my Kindle, I should be able to return it from there, too.

Yeah, I like the kindle for (a) not making me think "ooh, I could just go check my email.." and (b) it's not backlit so I figure it's better for me to read at night.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, you totally should be able to do it from the kindle. I don't know what the thinking is there. But if you feel really guilty about hoarding a library book you've already read it's possible, at least.

Weirdly, I have found that magazines that I subscribe to through Amazon as kindle publications are formatted weird on the kindle and look better in the Kindle app on the iPad.

I like the not backlit aspect for reading regardless of the time of day, reading anything longer than a quick article on a computer or tablet screen really hurts my eyes.

Hey. New board.

I think, at least for my library, that you can return the book through the overdrive app on your phone. I could be wrong about that, though - I haven't used that feature in a while.

I haven't used my Kindle in a while, partially because I broke my beloved Kindle keyboard so I've been using my old Kindle 2, which is heavier with a worse screen, and partly because the ridiculously high res and ginormous display on my phone, combined with MoonReader+ app (for an ebook reading experience that is super customizeable, including lowering brightness to ridiculously low levels in the darkness) and Twilight app (for filtering out the blue light) has actually made reading on my phone a pleasurable experience. It also helps that I don't usually have more than 20-30 minutes at a time to dedicate to pleasure reading during the school year; we will see if I go back to the Kindle this summer.

I am so tired my muscles are hurting, and I'm done with work for the night, but I'm in that fugue state of "click the tab, check the thing, glaze-eyed-read". But now I've said it aloud, so I'm off to bed.

Hey. New board.

Oh, except I forgot: my geometry classes built kid-sized soccer goals the last couple of days as a project, and little Calvin got to take one home. [link]

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yay for vacay, -t and Lee!!

So I went to a neighborhood charette to vote on possible upgrades to one of the big streets in the neighb. Which, given the name, was expecting more contention and uproar, but no. We all sipped on free wine from the wine bar and voted by putting beans into little boxes for the upgrades we wanted.

but I'm in that fugue state of "click the tab, check the thing, glaze-eyed-read"

I hate when that happens--especially when it's late and I really should be going to sleep...and yet I just keep clicking from one website to another, where nothing has changed...(no, at midnight no one is posting here, no one is posting on FB, there are no new articles on the blogs...)

Gris, I was very skeptical of the touch-kindle, but I bought a paperwhite and I love it. There are a few occasions where a click button would've been nicer, but for the most part it's just fine.

Eee! I just found out there's a ZAPPOS OUTLET and my sister might go on a daytrip with me there when I'm visiting in a couple weeks! I expect it may not be great in my size (8, so common) but still...
