I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds like plenty to me.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yeah, in that case I'd go with across time, as Jesse suggests.

(still think "over time" sounds better)

"Over time" totally sounds better. This is one of those weird as hell style rules I can't figure the reasoning for.

Rates increased as the Earth rotated.

Rates increased in proportion to universal entropy.

Or maybe I'll use these instead.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Joining the conversation late, but "Time passed; rates increased."

But then, I like semicolons. More than the people that review my work like them.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I ran across this as I was roaming the far fringes of the internet:

How many Babylonians does it take to light an oil lamp? Three. One to light the lamp, another to consult the law governing oil lamp lighting, and a third to smite the hand that let the lamp go out.

How many Spartans does it take to light an oil lamp? 400. One to change the oil, and 399 to defend his right to do so. To the death.

How many Romans does it take to light an oil lamp? Friends, Romans, countrymen… I think we have better uses for oil and darkness, don’t you?

How many Delphic oracles does it take to light an oil lamp? The mule must learn to play the lyre.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Thank you, Toddson. I needed that.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

Semantic satiation sounds like it should be dirty.

Can't laugh out loud, students are writing an exam.

I'll have to share that on Twitter instead.

Why do I keep picking up my teacup, taking a sip, and setting it down on my desk instead of on its saucer? I generally drink from mugs, but I've been having my daily tea-at-work from this set for a while now. Maybe months.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday tommyrot!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have to decide how much I want to spend on a ticket to see the opera do Sweeney Todd.
