Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I totally brought Steph's rule about no abbreviations unless it's in the piece five times to my staff meeting -- did I say that yesterday? We liked it!

I cling to my acronyms. I would go bonkers if I had to spell out complementary metal-oxide semiconductor every time.

The acronym of which is CMOS, of course, which makes me do a little double-take every time I see the acronym for Chicago Manual of Style.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Ha, I see CMOS and know what it is, but can't ever tell you what it stands for! Just like I struggle to remember what JFET stands for. (Junction Field Effect Transistor, for those playing along at home) and a bazillion others. And then all the schematic symbols that represent them all; it's another entire language, which I'm rapidly forgetting as I haven't had to use them in yonks.

Our wings are not tired.

See I would never think Chicago Manual of Style for CMOS. I do hope someday to have an opportunity to use that in a joke.

I skipped a bunch. Moving is so much work. But the 18 year anniversary thing meant I really had to spend some Buffista time.

Librarian Warlord

It is self-evaluation time in my world, and one piece is a memo to the Dean. Unlike other faculty members, I actually meet with the Dean every week, so this memo, filling him in on what I do outside the classroom feels like a waste of time.

I have a t-shirt with this design, which is a hit with my geeky engineers.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I sent my self-eval to my manager yesterday. I didn't even give it a once over for typos, I figured whatever i got in there by now is fine. It's not like it goes anywhere except to her and maybe into my file, as far as I know, so who cares how complete it is? If that has a significant effect on my performance review, something is wrong IMO.

Maybe I'll buy lottery ticket today, since the Buffyverse is legally old enough.

ETA that's a great shirt, Zen. Excellent to wear while meditating all "ohmmmmm"

brillig

I dreamed I lived with Tony Stark last night, essentially as someone to fuss over him--listen to strange jokes and stories, accept random hugs, remind him to eat. Sort of a nanny, I guess. It wasn't too bad, actually, we lived in a nice little Gothic Revival cottage and it was quite comfortable. No killer robots or aliens anywhere.

Connie, that sounds like the perfect dream-life.

Excellent to wear while meditating all "ohmmmmm"

I don't even need to click on the link to get the gist of the t-shirt, because (1) I married into a family of electrical engineers, and (2) I know where you work. Also (3) puns.
