There are good people in the world.
CJ's car died again today. This time he was in the left turn lane at a busy intersection near our place. He called me and I headed over. When I passed him to park my car, no one had stopped to help him but by the time I got back to him on foot, a mom and son where helping him steer/push. As I started to help, an SUV pulled up behind us and 4-5 track and field guys jumped out and got to pushing. The intersection is uphill, so it was great to have the extra muscle. Once the car was out of the way and into a parking lot, they hopped back in the SUV as CJ and I yelled our thank you's to them.
So, how much is a new fuel pump going to cost me?
Well, my day just took a sharp turn into Not Good.

Noooooooooo.
My important job news is that I got a look at the employee handbook, and it does not prohibit open-toed shoes or sandals. Small victories.
20 people got let go including me. I don't know what that means for the goals of the rest of the company, but TWENTY. That was about 20% of IT right there.
Every quarter the shareholders demand growth for their stock. Regardless if growth is more cancerous than fruitful.
We're a nonprofit! Although we turn a pretty nice profit, most years. I don't know how that works out.
Turn left, shrift.
20% sounds like a lot of layoffs. Or whatever they are calling it.
Went out for second breakfast with my sister and her family (it was their first breakfast as their flight was too early for them to eat before) and now all I want to do is nap. But I did turn most of my outstanding produce into jars of salad, so that's something.
It's 97 degrees, I'm hungry, and all I want to eat is ice cream.
That's a very persuasive sentence.
I think ice cream is the most sensible choice.
I hate days this hot. I'm hiding in the house with blinds drawn just to keep it a little bit cooler.
I've kept the blinds drawn and the windows closed all day. The cats are miffed.
