I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sorry about the ring, sarameg. Not an omen! Short skirt long jacket is one of my running songs, I fully endorse it for motivational purposes.

That's sweet, Jesse.

Sorry about the er, 'Suela.

I keep going to bed earlier and earlier and still wake up tired. Sigh.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

As a result, I had cheese curls and ice cream for dinner, woot. Got to bed by midnight, and I took Dad's dog home with me so he won't have to deal.

There's some bug going around at his ALF, and they've shut down all the social functions, even the dining room, which means there's almost nothing to do but watch tv and read. Poor folks!

And now off to work. Bah. Tomorrow is my day off, but I/we have four separate appointments, so no rest for the wicked...

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

And I get so angry at people who post stuff on FB about "Big Pharma" and drugs being a scam and unnecessary, etc., usually accompanied by a self-righteous screed about how "food is the best medicine," blah blah blah

As someone that takes way too many drugs for my own comfort - Rage is only part of it. And I actually do think good food helps a lot. despite a couple of chronic conditions - I don't really get sick.

July has been too dramatic. A couple of good , a couple of bad and then I had to call 911 for one of breakfast buddies yesterday - I kinda would like to be bored

I totally agree that eating healthier is a good thing and can be a big contributor to general good health/vitality/wellness. I'm not objecting to that and saying "fuck healthy food; drugs rule! Everyone should wash down their Lipitor with some cheesy poofs and Lard Glug*!" My problem is when people hold up "healthy eating" as obviating the need for those horrible, horrible drugs that are really just a scam. It's just not an either/or thing for a lot of people. (And medication is not a scam.)

It's fantastic when lifestyle measures like diet (and activity) can prevent/improve some diseases -- and I am 100% aware that they can. But, unfortunately, that's not true for everyone. Some people have to take (for instance) blood pressure meds even as they chow down on roasted cauliflower and hit the elliptical. Sometimes some people just gotta do both, because food isn't a cure-all.

*(Contains neither lard nor glug.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I was poking around on line to try to find a way to keep mosquitos and bitey things off the dog and found a recommendation to spray them down with lemon juice. Which seems reasonable enough and I might try it, but then the site started going on about this eliminates the need to FLOOD YOUR DOG'S SYSTEM WITH HARMFUL CHEMICALS, i.e. heartworm preventative and Jesus Christ, people.

Yeah, you know who lived on organically grown vegetables and free-range, antibiotic-free meat? Pre-1492 Native Americans. This group lost ~90% of its population between 1492 and the 1700s due to diseases introduced by Europeans. Almost all of these diseases can be cured, prevented, or mitigated today by drugs. [link]

I'm not wild about some pharma sales tactics, but I definitely value their products.

Oh I still remember my high school chemistry teacher talking about how they used to love benzene and wash their hands in it and stuff, before they knew that was a bad idea!

I woke up and kept hitting snooze and then being confused what the noise was when it went off. Like, had a dream I downloaded some sort of spam alarm clock app that I couldn't figure out how to get it off my phone (in reality I just needed to WAKE UP)
