Oh, I'm wearing the 5" noisy (hollow) crossover maryjanes, above-knee wrap pencil skirt from Aus, all black up top (too hot for a long jacket) and my favorite earrings. Armor, baby.

Variations on this apparently intimidate; it was assumed I was interviewing or meeting with the director last time I decked out.

And now, to bed, since I have 2 meetings before the one I need a theme for.

So I'm in the ER with Dad, who fainted or something this evening. I had planned to make that apricot tart tonight, instead I'm sitting here listening to things beep.

He seems fine, just a bit dazed. No damage, thank goodness.

In better news, my younger niece just got a great job in a senator's office here, and her older sister found an apartment a nice neighborhood.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Sarameg: I managed to sprain my hip putting on my socks. Since I recovered from that, managed to do something mysterious to my shoulder in my sleep. My doc finally convinced my insurance that they were better off paying for an MRI than continuing to pay for treatment for a constant stream of mysterious injuries of unknown origin.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oy vey, Consuela! Nothing much wrong is the best way to spend many hours in the ER, I guess, but still.

We're burying my grandmother today -- I guess interring her ashes would be the actual phrase -- and in her honor I just wrote to a company to complain about a product that broke too soon! That's a trait that skipped a generation -- my mother would just buy a new one.

Aaand I lost one of my damned rings this morning. Somewhere in the house, I guess. Spent 45 minutes hunting for it.

Not a great start. I hate mornings.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sorry about the ring, sarameg. Not an omen! Short skirt long jacket is one of my running songs, I fully endorse it for motivational purposes.

That's sweet, Jesse.

Sorry about the er, 'Suela.

I keep going to bed earlier and earlier and still wake up tired. Sigh.

As a result, I had cheese curls and ice cream for dinner, woot. Got to bed by midnight, and I took Dad's dog home with me so he won't have to deal.

There's some bug going around at his ALF, and they've shut down all the social functions, even the dining room, which means there's almost nothing to do but watch tv and read. Poor folks!

And now off to work. Bah. Tomorrow is my day off, but I/we have four separate appointments, so no rest for the wicked...

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

And I get so angry at people who post stuff on FB about "Big Pharma" and drugs being a scam and unnecessary, etc., usually accompanied by a self-righteous screed about how "food is the best medicine," blah blah blah

As someone that takes way too many drugs for my own comfort - Rage is only part of it. And I actually do think good food helps a lot. despite a couple of chronic conditions - I don't really get sick.

July has been too dramatic. A couple of good , a couple of bad and then I had to call 911 for one of breakfast buddies yesterday - I kinda would like to be bored

I totally agree that eating healthier is a good thing and can be a big contributor to general good health/vitality/wellness. I'm not objecting to that and saying "fuck healthy food; drugs rule! Everyone should wash down their Lipitor with some cheesy poofs and Lard Glug*!" My problem is when people hold up "healthy eating" as obviating the need for those horrible, horrible drugs that are really just a scam. It's just not an either/or thing for a lot of people. (And medication is not a scam.)

It's fantastic when lifestyle measures like diet (and activity) can prevent/improve some diseases -- and I am 100% aware that they can. But, unfortunately, that's not true for everyone. Some people have to take (for instance) blood pressure meds even as they chow down on roasted cauliflower and hit the elliptical. Sometimes some people just gotta do both, because food isn't a cure-all.

*(Contains neither lard nor glug.)
