I am getting so much conflicting resume advice. I know it's too long--I dropped a page. But if I drop it to ten years, people don't see what a magician I am.
Anyway, once it's in the hands of a recruiter and they work their magic--I can only hope for the best.
Mentor from work called. Apparently the INCOMPETENT woman was fired too, And I keep seeing "New job for XXX!" congratulations emails from people I've taken so many meetings with.
Good luck, company.
Heather, smonster, Nora, for all of you who were lucky enough to have Kara, I am sorry. I didn't get know her, but you brought her to light and got to love her. And this just sucks.
smonster and Nora and all...
I am so sorry about Kara.
From far away and only knowing Kara from those I know, I'm greatly saddened.
Msbelle, a number of jobs I've applied for asked for transcripts. I was able to go to my college website, set up an alumni account, and download "unofficial" copies in PDF for free. I sent them to potential employers with a note that I'd be happy to send official versions upon request.
Daisy and all, I'm so sorry.
I am so sorry about Kara. Much love to all of you.
On my way to work, I was listening to the Fresh Air interview with Bobby Womack, which has many great gems, but one thing I learned is that Pam Grier is Rosey Grier's niece! I had no idea.
I somehow wrenched my hip in my sleep and just now got banana all over my black dress. And my dumbass employer's website won't let me see my goddamned leave balance. AWESOME.
msbelle, Calli is right. These days there is an assumption that you can pull an unofficial transcript from your colleges' website at any time, and replace it with an official transcript when requested.
Try not to actually look at it though, because the damn things are a reminiscence trap. Researchers use this to their advantage in obtaining higher quality retrospective data: "Let's talk about the fall of your sophomore year now. You were taking Organic Chemistry and . . . Where were you living . . What days were your big drinking days . . . How did that impact your early morning Chemistry class . . ."
