Similar thing happened to one of my classmates in high school. Tylenol and alcohol do not mix.

You can generally open your own flue. If you stick your head in the fireplace and use a flashlight, you should see a lever you can use.
I have a twisty handle thing outside the chimney that turns, but it's rusted/busted. I don't see a lever inside.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.
I am on the phone with United, trying to figure out if they will be able to help me at all with travel arrangements that just got complicated...okay, no, I'm not, not with a 60-minute wait time. I will call them later.
Anyway, my great-aunt died yesterday, and somehow between my brother, my mother, my cousin, and myself, there's basically one day we can have the services, and it's the day before I fly to LA for a con.
