You can generally open your own flue. If you stick your head in the fireplace and use a flashlight, you should see a lever you can use.
I have a twisty handle thing outside the chimney that turns, but it's rusted/busted. I don't see a lever inside.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Anyway, my great-aunt died yesterday, and somehow between my brother, my mother, my cousin, and myself, there's basically one day we can have the services, and it's the day before I fly to LA for a con.
