There's more than one way to skin a cat. And I happen to know that's factually true.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Occasionally we have summer temps that confuse thermometers like that...till they want to write "fricking boiling"

Ugh. I am listening to a very necessary training (for something I will need to do, but have never done before, in a system I am new to), but it's pre-recorded and making me crazy that it's (a) slow and (b) not focusing on things I want it to, and i can't ask questions because it happened last week and I couldn't attend. Argh!

So I am needing to pay attention but having a very hard time doing so.

Oh dear. And it just abruptly ended less than halfway through. I guess there was a problem with the recording and they didn't realize. Crap.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

So, we're getting the first significant amount of snow today since November (we've had some dustings here and there, but the last snowfall that could be measured in inches, plural, was in November). It's nothing compared to what Boston has gotten hammered with, but by 10 p.m. we could have 9 inches (though I suspect it'll be more like 4 inches). The county is currently under a Level 1 Snow Emergency, which translates roughly to "Hey! It's snowing out there!!!" (Really, it just means "drive with caution, fools.")

All that is backstory to tell you this: I just got an invitation on Facebook to a "Level 1 Emergency Snowman Build" in the park in my neighborhood. Yet again, I love my neighborhood. (I have too much work to go to the snowman build, plus I wouldn't want to drive up there, and it's about a mile away, and I have to confess I am too delicate of a flower to walk a mile in the snow. I'm not in college anymore, man.)

Art Crawl!!!

That is very cool.

And much better than temps in the single digits.

information libertarian

My crew is heading out the door for a neighborhood sledding date at Madison Park. Also, the library just announced they're closing at 5pm, which is crazy because they never close, except I had today off, so oh well.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Snowmaggedon has begun. We're supposed to get 5-8 inches by tomorrow morning. I stopped at the grocery on my home from a doctor appointment (he is not happy with my blood pressure and gave it a good talking-to) and man, I've never seen that grocery so packed. I just wanted cat food and chocolate! Get out of my way, people buying enough supplies to save the Donner party!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I just got an invitation on Facebook to a "Level 1 Emergency Snowman Build" in the park in my neighborhood.

Fun! I'm waiting for snow to arrive here. We've had some flurries, but nothing's sticking yet. Meanwhile, there's a hawk just chilling in a tree outside my living room window. I hear him all the time, but I hardly ever see him.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My mother decided she could walk to Goodwill to drop some stuff off, so I was going with her on my way to get my brows done, but about a half a block from the house, she decided it was too cold. Classic Mother.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

There's a sad little wren sitting on a shrub next to her snowed-under birdbath. Sorry, little wren. No baths for a few days. But the birdfeeder is restocked, so you've got millet!

Oh, there goes the first vehicle crawling by on the snow-covered street. Be brave, little driver, it's not even icy yet!
