I'm sorry about the house, flea. I hope you find one that's perfect for you and your family soon.
Thanks for the comments about the interview way upthread. I asked a question and then ran off to my current part-time temp job. I think I'll go for it.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Happy Galentine's! To those who are and aren't gals.
Go for it, Calli!
Small victories: I'm currently on health insurance that has a specific formulary with no coverage for stuff outside the formulary. On my previous insurance I'd been getting a compounded drug for my severe death-by-flowers allergies that you can't really access any other way in the US. Paying for the dose as given was hellishly expensive. But the pharmacist suggested another formulation of the dose that cost about 60% as much as the original dose, and my allergist approved it! Which means I can finally afford to stay on the drug that's been the difference between needing one of those charcoal filter masks and breathing.
This is particularly important for me, since, unlike all of the country east of the Rockies, Oregon has decided that springtime was a great idea for early February. Everything is blooming. Stop blooming, things! You're confused!
I have serious envy for those who are moving on to new jobs; I want to leave mine so fucking bad. My boss is driving me nuts, second guessing every thing I do. "Did you talk to so and so about that? What about this? What about that?" She just keeps going on, loving the sound of her own voice and when I try to tell her it's handled, she tells me not to interrupt her. If she'd let me speak, she'd know everything was taken care of. All I wanted to know was if she was available for a half hour on Monday to give a new employee a little orientation/history of our department. I want the answer to one question and I get the fricking Spanish Inquisition.
At some point in the dim distant past I bought one of those discount deals for an Emergency Survival Kit but I never picked it up or arranged to have it shipped to me and the deal eventually expired BUT I finally called and applied the voucher-price-that-doesn't-expire to a kit and should get it next week. So if there's a major earthquake in the North Bay over the weekend, that's my fault.
flea, I am sorry about the house.
In other news, if he is still at the shelter tomorrow, I will very likely be taking this little guy home as a playmate for Finn: [link]

What a cutie! Are you keeping the name?
D'awwwww. Love him.
flea, I'm sorry about the house. House hunting is just so soul sucking.
In re moving: I have, in the past, made "happy moving day" baskets for friends. Contents will include (yes, a lightbulb), a flashlight, toilet paper, paper plates and plastic flatware and, since most of my friends are women, tampons.
This is a great idea. A corkscrew would be a wonderful addition to this. We couldn't figure out where we packed ours when we first moved, and a bottle of wine after the move was badly needed.
I hope you can find something better, SailAway. Micromanagement sucks.
