Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I am grateful this winter has seen less snow than past years. Also, I started parking in a base lot on campus, again, because of people who didn't, or didn't properly, shovel their sidewalks. In one day, I slipped on sidewalks three times. I didn't throw my back out that day, but a week later it gave up and I ended up having 6 weeks of PT to partially fix it. It's still not very strong, the least sideways twist threatens to put it out of joint. I can't say the parking lot is much better than many of the sidewalks due to melt and refreeze, but it's a shorter distance to walk and the university is liable.

Home owners, here, have 24 after the snow ends to shovel or it's a $200 fine (ask my daughter.) However, if it's snowing straight for a couple of days, that means they can let it build up without doing anything. That's why I finally gave up on walking to work.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I moved offices and now I have a window. The orb!

Could not wake up this morning...even went to sleep earlier than usual. Normally it isn't a big deal but I committed to coming into the office today so once I did drag my butt out of bed it was shower, get dressed, eat something, pack up, drive to the office and ta-da...start 2 hours later than usual.

But I'm here. And ready for a nap. This sick thing hasn't let go yet. I have a lunch meeting and then a performance review meeting, and then I can escape.

A year ago, I bought some very wide legged pants, I think they're called palazzo pants. They're slightly long and I've never bothered getting them hemmed. We're all doing business-casual this week due to visiting customers, so I pulled the pants out and wore some slightly higher shoes to compensate for length.

Why have I never wore this style of pant before! They're so comfy! My fat legs don't get squeezed and they flow so nicely! Must own more! And relearn how to hem things.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Palazzo pants have a lot to recommend them.

Because books.

I just saw the cutest pair at Target on clearance, but I would have had to hem off all the detail on the cuff to wear them without tripping.

I'm getting back into editing! I mean, it's qualified excitement until I get a call back, but pretty definite. I get to read submissions again! And edit! I'm bouncing.

I love palazzo/wide legged pants. They're comfortable, and I think they're flattering to many body types. Or, at least, to mine. I have several from J. Jill. [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good news, Amy!

There's something very '60s about palazzo pants.
