Well, sure, oxidation happens inside cells continuously, and oxidation is what makes iron rust, but I wouldn't say we're rusting. When a cut apple turns brown, that's oxidization, but we don't call that rusting, either.

Besides, some oxidation is necessary; that chemical reaction is one way cells communicate and transfer chemicals across their membranes. You really wouldn't want to take enough antioxidants to stop all oxidation.

I assembled the replacement faucet and adaptors. I'm not up for turning off the water and swapping them out tonight.for one, too late for emergency trips to hardware if something goes wrong. Is it goofy I want to get ridiculous crazy handles to replace the boring (and ugly and mismatched, wtf) handles? For a utility sink?Yeah, it's goofy. I'll only do it if I can find cheap and laughable.

God, today. Went over to the potential fostercat neighbor's house to do a run of sub-q for one cat. * One, it's been a while and I wanted to assure her it wouldn't be trauma and two, she can't do it alone and it is an off week for her nursing aide. So that went fine, but because of her issues, what should've taken 30 minutes took 90. Most of it her talking about everything that is poisoning us and how bad her luck is. Uhhhng. She's basically a shut in with kidney disease, copd,memory issues and something else and depression and I'm not sure what came first. She's engaging, but relentlessly negative and I mostly just smile and notd, but it is exhausting. And part of my heart breaks for her because I suspect that's what's driven a support system from her. And she has been dealt a shitty hand since childhood. But I mean, I tell her about the Ys programs after she compliments my dedication to swim and she launches into how they're competing with fitness centers and so she can't afford and when I point out their sliding scale for seniors and folks on SS, there is another negative experience to counter that. I wish I could park her with my bad-pun, commie annoying pool guy. I think they'd validate each other.

Any of you start going that route, fair warning. If I have to deal with you, I'm finding your brethren and making you have a group.

* she's seeking hospitalization for her depression. Basically, she only lives because no one would take on her cats. But she's got to find petcare because this involves up to 2 weeks in the hospital. And this is where I enter. Because she's pretty much alienated most petcare businesses. Since one cat flees strangers and then hides and won't eat, the other needs subQ and both meds, I'm going to lock them up in the guest bedroom and hope like hell neither dies. I also need to put on record here that I'm not 100% that there's not a bit of munchausens going on. NSM making them sick as imagining ailments. The kidney disease in the one is real, as is the food boycott when strangers enter the house for the other, but the other meds list...i may be emailing my vet for advice.

Holy hell, sorry for the brain dump. All so tangled. I do want to say this: when she first told me, embarrassed, the real reason for the need, I congratulated her for taking that step and it took her aback, in a good way. I was able to tell her I had friends who'd also made that call and I was glad she was taking care of herself. Tonight she asked me how those friends were doing, which sounds a lot like hope.

I've got faucets that come out of the wall for my utility sink in the garage, so I ended up using the faucet that came with the basin in my kitchen. One of these days I will post a picture of the frankenplumbing going on there, it is far from normal but it works.

With the rust talk leading into plumbing, I feel like you all are being all TMI about your internal workings.
