Today was not a good day for being on the roads near me. On the way to work I passed an accident scene where a pedestrian was hit by a van, and then had to stop for a four-point buck in the road my office is on.

I am really so much like my grandboss, it's hilarious. He just asked me to do a thing that wouldn't necessarily be part of my job here, but has been at other places, and I love and miss it, which I told him. He was like "It's my favorite, too! I would do this myself if I had time today!" Hee.

Aww, Jesse, that's great. I miss having that kind of relationship with my boss.

My grandboss is a very nice lady, but a totally ineffective manager. It's not at all surprising that two of us have resigned this month. (That's two out of a team of six full-time staff members. So nearly half of everyone not Grandboss herself.)

My direct supervisor is showing her true colors more than ever now that I've officially resigned, and I expect most of the next two weeks will be me mouthing "fuuuuuuuuuck youuuuuuuu" at the screen every time I see her name.

Got my football pool numbers - I think mine are pretty good? Not that usual score expectations will probably apply to this game.

I wouldn't mind seeing more deer as long as they're not between me and my car. It's one of the perks of an office in the woods actually, getting to see majestic wild animals up close. (Mind you, most of the wild animals I see are squirrels and crows.)

We get rabbits and turkey vultures. And goats, sometimes, but not wild. And frogs, when it rains, but that is more hearing than seeing, but as scarce as rain has been it's always exciting to hear them.

I like seeing deer, but up close (and especially, for some reason, near cars) they can be downright scary. Of course, I am glad for my garden that they don't wander through my particular neighborhood.

Talked to my dad last night about home buying stuff. He actually brought up the topic before I had a chance. I let him know I'm still on track and doing my research and am aiming to get pre-approved in March. He travels a lot, so my main question was if he would be in the US between March and June. His response - no plans at the moment, but a trip to Israel and/or Iran are possible. All righty then.

I like seeing the deer, but I wish they'd stop eating my pretty flowers in the spring before I even get to see them bloom. I've never seen a squirrel in this neighborhood. We had a big feral/stray cat population when I moved in, and while the TNR program was successful, we still have two or three cats. I think they do their job of keeping the rodents at bay. And there are a couple families of majestic crows that live around here. I enjoy watching them.

There was a wooded, swampy area behind my previous office. We use to see deer a lot. Once we saw a white deer. Just about the whole office was plastered to the windows on that side of the building for nearly half an hour.

We also had herons and hawks flying about a lot. I miss seeing them. Well, the herons, anyway. With all the squirrels in my area, hawks show up occasionally.
