Punishingly Intricate

Though it is entirely likely that I will be moving to a different building in a couple years (lisah, the Rotunda.)

Well, I will be jealous! I'd love to be able to walk to work! (Which I could if I were working at the Rotunda not that it will be close enough for you!)

I made steps to make an appointment with a therapist today AND then a friend of mine who is getting certified to be a life coach got in touch and asked if he could do a session with me for practice which I think could be really helpful for me in trying to actually deal with my sucky ass work feelings. I'm pretty sure my friend will make an awesome coach so I'm excited about working with him.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I keep thinking I should cut cable, but I don't want to. I don't want to go hunting for the shows I want, I want them delivered to my DVR. The cable part of the bill is only about $68 anyway.

I really struggle with this. The satellite is wasted money and yet. I like having some random shit to watch rather than always having to actively choose something. Plus virtually everything is or could be a marathon on Amazon or Hulu, and that's not always a good option to have.

I was really reluctant to cut cable, but I prefer our current setup now. I do miss my baseball shows, but so much is online now. And if I really really wanted to follow some sport (baseball, tennis, NASCAR) there's an a la carte way to get it over the Roku.

When I go to EM's house with Emmett the thing I'm mostly struck with having cable there is: 90% of this is shit I don't want to watch at all.

Whereas with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu I get to watch not only things I'm interested in, but also discover lots of cool new stuff.

I'll also note that Amazon and Netflix have pushed so hard into the content side that it's almost getting to Killer App status. And way cheaper than HBO.

Admittedly, I do gank stuff off the internet to watch some shows but that's not difficult.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Glad to hear it, Drew.

Plei, for the record, your mother it cracking me up with her facepalmy fb stuff. Cause I'm dealing with one of my most normal aunts who "doesn't do fb" yet manages to read posts on her late husband's account and then query my mother (who is not on fb) after being unable to navigate fb about things I haven't told my parents because I haven't called them yet. It's...you matched and beat wits with a rocket scientist and are one of the more private people I know and...damnit, just ask me. I expect this drama from the eldest aunt (who, thank god isn't on fb) but sensible, thoughtful Sue??

brillig

I'm watching my Kolchak: The Nightstalker disks. So surprisingly creepy and so 70s. Film cameras, teletype machines with paper.

edit: Good lord, this show is 40 years old.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I need to remember my budget and not try to save this dresser that's for sale online. The seller suggests that it's a "great candidate for chalk paint." It's a late Empire piece with matched veneer. In a just world, people would be seized with sudden paralysis every time they tried to paint matched veneer in good condition.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think I've mentioned this before but I've been emailing with one of our designers in India whose first name is Karlmarx. Too funny.
