Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I am about to go do 18 miles (roughly 3.6 hours) on an ellipitcal machine since I still can run. Pity me.

I was trying to squeeze some pity out past the envy of how in-shape you are, but no. Sorry! Oh, wait, here, I do have some pity for you for using an elliptical machine; my knees and I hate those things.

Just barely too warm for snow here; it's raining instead. I opened a window for fresh air and now the cats are all frisky, running around chasing each other.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We just bought a rowing machine because it was the one exercise machine we both like and will use. Setting it up today.

At this point, I can't bend over to load the dishwasher or get vegetables out of the crisper without ending up with a cat on my back.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I love rowing machines. One of the fitness centers I belonged to had electronic displays, like stairmasters where you could set times and levels, etc., and you could see your little boat rowing across the screen. Plus, sharks. The sharks just cracked me up.

Three hours on an elliptical! Oy, so boring. I admire your tenacity, Pix!

I still haven't gone to the new health club around the corner, despite signing up a month ago (it's $10/month!). Right now my explanation is that I have a cold, and my congestion is making my head feel all swelled and awful. Scar tissue in my inner ear is still a problem.

I do notice that as I age I just get less... flexible. Everything is more awkward, and it takes more work to maintain any agility. So I will go to the climbing gym in half an hour, at least, which will help with that a bit.

Last night I ending up mainlining three episodes of Jane the Virgin, which is Totally Awesome. So funny, so much heart, so creative. Lots of women, vivid setting, plenty of people of color, and a spectacularly wry/funny narrative voice. Reminds me a lot of Wonderfalls, actually. I'm bummed that I have to go to the theater tonight because I'd rather binge on the rest of the show...

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

If I try to exercise at home, the cat will try to use me as a climbing post or chew toy. Or, he'll crawl under me when I'm doing a plank or similar.

I just got back from the gym - they just got in all new weight equipment, which is lovely. What's especially lovely is that they actually got some intermediate weight dumbbells - things like 12.5 and 17.5 pound weights.

I don't have any shoveling to do today, but it is warm enough that I have no excuse not to go outside and rake leaves and sweet-gum balls. The ONE nice thing about sweet-gum balls is that they make excellent mulch for hostas and other tender plants. The bunnies don't like to walk on them, not even to get to a tasty baby hosta.

Dunno if anyone's shared this yet, but Genevieve Valentine's review of the Miss Universe costumes is marvelous: [link]

Because books.

but meh! Physical exercise is good for cramps, right?

I read this as "metaphysical exercise" and thought, now there's an idea.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Both Charlie and Bubba think me doing my floor based exercises is the best game ever. Only one of them tries to lick my face but they both climb on me.

I am at SFO. Soon, LA

I am in a church mtg thing until 3. I am not really feign it, but I do love some of the ppl here. I had to leave to get myself lunch because the entrees they had were pasta with beef. Beef I can't eat at anything and I am not eating pasta for 8 wks, so not great for me.
