This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Grrr, it's really annoying to get an email from my boss that says "In the future, please do X and not Y," when I check and not only *did* I do X, I copied her on the fucking email in which I did X.

I emailed back to tell her I checked the email, and I did do X, and I copied her, and perhaps there was a misunderstanding on the author's part, and how can I avoid that in the future?

And her reply was "Please do X." AUGH I ALREADY HAVE BEEN DOING THAT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Steph, I commiserate; that sounds just like my boss.

I admit I am one of those people who really wants to always be right (like, the question "Would you rather be right, or would you rather be happy?" is a no-brainer for me [uh, I am that jerk who would rather be right, because being right MAKES me happy]).

But in this case, it's not so much an issue of being "right," as much as I just don't want my boss to think I'm an incompetent fool who can't follow the proper procedure, when I clearly DID follow the proper procedure.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Good thoughts callaluna.

This came up on the Google hangout the other day. I tend to not think of people in their board names much anymore. Some people it is still all I know, but with Facebook I know most real names and that is how I think of most you. Doubly so if I have met you. Others said they think of us in board names. What say you?

So maybe I change my name here to real name?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Ugh, Tep. Super-annoying. It's got to be one of the great perks of working from home, though, that you don't have to seethe silently to yourself, but can kick things and grumble and yell at the sky about the super-annoying (at least, God knows that's exactly what I do when I have to go in on a weekend and it's all silent and I know I'm totally alone and then I make the mistake of checking my work email).

Callaluna, so much ~ma to your mom, and steady hands and wisdom to her medical team.

Jilli, Copenhagen sounds lovely. Chocolate for breakfast and office windows that open - if you really must work for a living, that's the way to do it.

I think I will skip this or it will be like high school all over again with 47 Heather's.

msbelle, I think it varies from person to person? I still think of you as msbelle more than [Realname], but could be persuaded either way.

(OTOH, I actually friended shrift on FB because she had a pink gingham avatar, but had no idea at all who she was and finally had to ask Hec who the hell I'd friended. However, it's an established fact that shrift's birth name is in no way her real name except by accident of birth and legal identity, and that for all actual purposes of selfhood she is shrift.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think of people by their board name. On Facebook I mentally translate those names to board names. ETA if I know them.

Surgery~ma for Callaluna's mother.

Copenhagen does sound lovely. I wish I didn't associate it with chaw.

Tep, maybe she just has a mandate to tell everyone to do X whether they already do or not?

I still don't know the connection between most of my FB friends and their board names.

I may have to seize the cat.

For Buffistas, I usually think board names.

But then, the first half of my board name is a nickname my sister actually uses for me, so I have no identity confusion when people call me Kiba out loud.
