I don't like vampires. I'm gonna take a stand and say they're not good.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Also, DUDE! The windows in the office open! WTF is that? I am not used to office buildings where you can open windows.

Hah. Welcome to our advanced European ways.

Actually, it's because we don't usually have air-conditioning. So, advantages and disadvantages. Not that it ever really gets hot enough in Copenhagen to warrent air-con.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Yeah, one week a year I tend to wish we had air-con, either at home or in public buidings. The rest of the year is mostly taken up with vaguely wishing I didn't live where you only notice it's summer because the rain got warmer.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I am attempting to convince Harvey that it is not quite time for kitties to eat. He remains skeptical.

My mom is being taken to the OR. The blockage has cleared, for now, but one of her hernias has popped out and is causing her a lot of pain. They are worried the hernia will cause more intestinal blockages, so they didn't want to risk waiting.

I am freaking out. Bless the doctor that gave me a prescription of some Xanax-like substance a couple months ago!

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Good vibes for your mother.

I am hiding in my car because I don't want to go in to this work conference. This is not a long term solution.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck to your mom, Callaluna.

I feel like I just had a strategic victory -- our CEO is taking the office to see Selma this afternoon, and I really want to go, but assumed my boss would think it is a bad idea, given all the work to do. So I went in to her and said I didn't think I should go, and she said I should! So that's good. Now at least I can think about my own workload and actually decide for myself.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Grrr, it's really annoying to get an email from my boss that says "In the future, please do X and not Y," when I check and not only *did* I do X, I copied her on the fucking email in which I did X.

I emailed back to tell her I checked the email, and I did do X, and I copied her, and perhaps there was a misunderstanding on the author's part, and how can I avoid that in the future?

And her reply was "Please do X." AUGH I ALREADY HAVE BEEN DOING THAT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Steph, I commiserate; that sounds just like my boss.

I admit I am one of those people who really wants to always be right (like, the question "Would you rather be right, or would you rather be happy?" is a no-brainer for me [uh, I am that jerk who would rather be right, because being right MAKES me happy]).

But in this case, it's not so much an issue of being "right," as much as I just don't want my boss to think I'm an incompetent fool who can't follow the proper procedure, when I clearly DID follow the proper procedure.
