It looks very likely that some time this year, probably in the summer, I will be moving to San Francisco for a few years to finish out my schooling.
WOW! Although of course I'll be sad for you to leave LA, it sounds like an amazing opportunity. More reason for us to visit the Bay area more frequently. I know I'll be back there this summer to run the second half of the SF Marathon (did the first half last summer), and certain Bayistas have been hinting ND and I really haven't been there enough in the past few years. Which is true.
Oooh, would love to see you guys up here as well!

Sophia, I'm actually a little surprised at how war-related the google results for "chickenhawk" actually are!
I'm going to brag a tiny bit: my VP (the guy who headhunted me for this job) thanked me last night for all the hard work I've done since I joined the company, saying that it's the first time in a long time that he's been fine with the documentation, and that I've earned the respect of the team, which is something that was apparently lacking for UE for a very long time.
They like me! They think I do good work!
Hooray, Jilli! That's wonderful feedback.
Hermione Granger and the Goddamn Patriarchy
I laughed until I snorted. So funny!
Jilli, of course they like you! What's not to like?
It's good to get positive feedback, Jilli! You deserve it.

Ugh ugh. That sounds like a horrible place to work, never mind the dog culture.
What do y'all think of this situation:
There is a building that is a shared space between two departments. New guy wants ALL TEH SPACE! Other department peeps need a certain allocation of space for various educational and income-earning programs. New guy went to the finance lady and asked how much those programs brought in, to see if it was worth other department keeping that program, so that he could then be justified in getting those programs discontinued so he could have ALL TEH SPACE for our department, so that he could arguably decrease our expenses utilizing that extra space (it's a greenhouse).
Underhanded? Sneaky? Disrespectful in the assumption that his needs/desires are greater than a whole other departments educational curriculum.
Or justified and understandable and there really wasn't any other way he could go about satisfying his curiosity for the facts that he knew he was ignorant of?
One suspects there might be considerable overlap between those two populations.
Two words: Dick Chaney.
Of course they really like you, Jilli.
I vote underhanded and possibly evil.
