I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, I had that. Did you restart into, um, was it safe mode? The command-r restart. I think I may have restored to a Time Machine backup and start the whole Yosemite installation process again to actually make it work.

Sorry, I mean to remember because I knew someone else would run into the same thing, but I did not do a good job of that.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Just did command r restart will not let me repair disk. I've hooked up to my external he where all the backups are, but have no idea what to do once I click on restore.

IIRC, what worked for me was restoring to the last backup from before I started trying to upgrade, and once that finished, upgrading again. I might have repaired the disk after restoring and before upgrading. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I did it on basically a late 2007 mac. I need to replace the memory because it really runs high (I only have 2G) but I installed a memory cleaner in the meantime. And don't try to run anything else when opening iPhoto.

Got back from a Bye Karen! Thing about half an hour ago. I'm in deep, deep denial. She's got to come back in May for the wedding! She'll be renting the house, so we'll see her! I am basically in a throw down with her friends T&P over whether she'll stay with me or them when she visits, frequently, damnit. Their place is bigger, but this will be the old hood (but they are 7 minutes drive away.) Uhg. And she's sans spoons understandably, so no heartfelts for her sanity.

And so I'm still awake.

Compassionately intolerant

Hm, it seems that the Yosemite upgrade is mostly for connectivity with apple devices. I currently have no devices.

So. Does it even make sense for me to try it?

Along those lines, much to my own surprise, I'm thinking of getting a tablet but actually considering a non-apple product. That would be for the first time since 1988.

Is there a tablet that is close enough to the apple interface that I won't feel like a stranger in a strange land?

Where is Karen going, sara?

I am in denial about having to fly tomorrow. Ugh.

She's moving to NC. Job with more growth.Closer to family she wants to spend more time with. Good for her, sucks for us. And I k ow I don't lose lose her, but still.

Just came off a crying jag. I could do transience better in the apt. I expected people to move. Here I've built a family, even renters. And she and I really clicked. We've joked that if I were relationship material and I were her type (am neither) we could've created our own 'hood wedding. S&J get that honor.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, Sara -- that's hard.

I'm willing to bet the answer is no, but it's not that hard to adjust -- it just takes time. (I did the opposite thing a few years ago at work. I bitched a lot at the beginning, but got over it eventually.)

My mom has had all Apple computers always and an iPad but she recently got an Android phone and seems to be managing it fine. FWTW.

That sounds hard, sarameg. I hope whoever she rents to fit into your 'hood well! And that she is able to visit often.

Broke my "almost got shagged" mug. sad face

ETA: but, hey, good opportunity to spend $50 on things I don't need from Cafepress! Yay?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just spent $100 at the supermarket for maybe the first time that wasn't associated with a move or a party. Granted, my refrigerator was basically empty, but I guess I'd really better follow that menu now!
