I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Huh. Interesting.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Just got back from Long Island. Man, walking through the dining room of the assisted living place to collect my dad's mom things made me feel like a harbinger of death, all those eyes on me and my family like it was our fault she died, or just that we were a reminder of future things to come for them. I have to say, as we went through the old photos, my dad's parent's were movie-star gorgeous back in the day. We even found a photo we'd never seen before of Grampa Mike when he was in India, all chiaroscuro shading and Dutch angles, very dramatic.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I will have to try that evap milk one. Lack of regular milk is a frequent issue for me too.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I recently found this recipe for 1-pot, no-drain mac & cheese, and I'm tempted to try it

I might try that one. 1-pot, dump it in and heat it, recipes are about my speed.

brillig

Are people getting shorter? I'm 5'2", and more and more I'm noticing that most of the people around me are my height or only a couple of inches taller. Many are shorter. Most of the nurses at the doctors office were shorter than me. It's becoming startling when I find people several inches taller than me. Isn't the average height for women in the U.S. 5'4"?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yep. I'm 5'8" and I rarely meet women taller than me.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Isn't finding unexpected photos great, Juliebird? I once found a photo of my dad in the mid-50s, complete with beret, an attempt at a goatee, and a cigarette, that absolutely screamed beatnik. It was delightful.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Yep. I'm 5'8" and I rarely meet women taller than me.

Same. Actually, I feel like I'm around women my height fairly frequently, but they're wearing heels and I'm not.
