Isn't finding unexpected photos great, Juliebird? I once found a photo of my dad in the mid-50s, complete with beret, an attempt at a goatee, and a cigarette, that absolutely screamed beatnik. It was delightful.

It really is, Calli. I nothinged the man, but he sure was beautiful when he was young. There was one kittenish photo of Grams that read "From your Easter Bunny", and then a suspiciously well-worn photo of Gramps in swim trunks. We even found a baby photo of my dad, who has dark brown hair now (unless he's dying and I don't know it), with nappy blond curls. Would never have guessed.

Doves and even a sparrow are hunkered down on my deck. The dove are in the sun, but the sparrow is using my planters as a windbreak. Too damned cold. And my autocorrect wants me to capitalize damned.

I insulated a window, all by myself! And I didn't fall or anything! Now all the windows in my living room are insulated. Next up is the bathroom, which I'll need the ladder for. I was able to stand on the back of the couch and use the bookcase for balance when I was doing the living room one. (My basic goal here is to put the space heater in the living room and seal off all the ways for the heat to escape, so that the living room will be warm, and pretty much ignore the other two rooms on the first floor; and then get my bedroom and bathroom windows insulated, and get an electric blanket for my bed, and a couple of extra bathmats for the bathroom floor, so that I can at least sleep and take a shower without freezing.)

I feel like I am around women who are taller than me (I am 5'2") all the time. How much taller I couldn't say.

I'd be very surprised if people were getting shorter. Average height has generally trended up for ages, hasn't it?

I wish all my windows weren't ten and fifteen feet off the ground, or else I'd plastic them from the outside. As it is, three out of the five will inevitably be scratched open by the cats, so doing the hairdryer plastic is sort of pointless.

I've thought about it, but I'm worried about accidentally splashing water on it. Though I might -- my shower doesn't really get hot water, just warm, so I'm probably going to get sick of freezing every time I take a shower pretty soon.

You're not in a place where you can access the hot water heater, are you? My water was way too hot, and the repairdude showed me how to change the temperature setting - totally easy.

I am cold. Probably because I'm stubbornly sitting in front of a patio window because I want to see a sunlit view. But still. Cold. I've promised to go to a Thing tonight, and I wish I hadn't, I want to curl up on the couch under a warm blankie and read and not talk to humans. But I promised, so I have to go showere and put on outside clothes and become a Normal Human for a few hours. Ugh.

I am onerousing today! I threw in a load of laundry, groomed the dog, vacuumed (one must always do those two tasks in that order), and scheduled cleaners. Now I have to run off to pick up Dad and take him to the optometrist, and then to my sister's house to watch the Patriots game.

Somewhere in there I will stop at the dry-cleaners and a consignment shop.
