These windows weren't designed for temps like this- condensation happens on the metal framing and windows, and it 'rains.'

It's -24 there this morning. They are all like, WHUT.

And yet, some people ask why I left Wisconsin.

I may just leave early and work from home the rest of the day. This is ridiculous.

It is 21 here which for us is a pretty cold. Usually anything under 30 will shut down most of our customers and therefore us, but we have done that seem to be ignoring the specifications of using our product and have still ordered. (Ground temp should be 34 and rising before administering our product)

ION, my non-work an for the workday is to map out weekend trips for the year. Have decided not to take a week vacation, but do long weekends throughout the year.

msbelle, my brother is probably getting married in Dallas on October 17th, so plan to be home that weekend!

I drove again today because of the cold and because I have a shrink appointment after work and having my car will make it easier to get to.

Despite my depression and anxiety and my reluctance to drive long distances, I'm driving up to the Minneapolis area this weekend for a friend's wedding. Driving that distance in one go would just wipe me out so I'm taking off Friday and Monday to give myself two days to get there and then get back. I'm trying to make the trip as low-stress as possible so I think that'll work.

It was 9F here when I woke up today. That's not a common temp for NC. I don't have to be anywhere this morning, so I'm just watching the birds with my cat. I also found a package of Trader Joes pumpkin bread mix in the pantry, so I mixed it up with walnuts, pecans, and raisins. It's baking now. Eventually I'll go for a walk in the cold, and then l'll come home and eat warm pumpkin-nut bread with tea.

There are worse plans for a day. I hope everyone who has to deal with the cold finds good bundling options, easily openable cars that start, and minimal black ice.

It's horribly cold here and, of course, there are public transit delays. One co-worker tried Metro for the first time ... doesn't understand how people do that every day (she lives fairly close and walks most days). Meanwhile, the buses are ... kind of free-ranging. There are official snow detours for areas with poorly plowed/hilly roads, but a lot of the drivers seem to not be in on where they should be going and skip a lot of their official routes, which leaves people standing out in the cold for indefinite periods or drops them off much further from their destination than they expected.

There's also a story that a family of eight kids, from four to 14, were put off a series of buses that couldn't complete their routes and ended up stranded somewhere between home and school. They were - reportedly - found trying to shelter on a porch until some kind strangers took them in, warmed them up, and called for help. They ended up in the hospital being treated for hypothermia and were released to their mother. However, this was from Fox ... so I'm taking it with a grain (or more) of salt.

I'm glad I don't have to go out in this weather for a commute (even by car), but OTOH, the temperature is 4 right now, and this built-in-1920 house is nowhere near what the thermostat says. But I have a nice warm fleece panda hat on and a wool blanket. The only real issue is my feet -- even with wool socks, they're pretty cold. I'm thinking heating pad.
