Go go Buffista meetups!
I skipped the party after all, and hung out at home with the dog and back episodes of Manhattan; I was in bed and asleep before midnight. Nice to sleep in until 8, though. I've already walked the dog, eaten a healthy breakfast (apple with PB), and done some yard work.
Going for a hike with a friend soon, and then to lunch if we can find somewhere that isn't crazy busy. Maybe Chinatown...
Instead of going to bed at 10 last night, I called my BFF G. to wish her and her daughter HNY, and she and I ended up staying up gabbing until 12:05, at which time I said, "...oh. you have to work today. go to bed." We didn't even realize.
She's looking forward, in a grim sort of way, to seeing her boss today. You see, her boss started driving for Uber! And last night was his first night. And he is a strict Muslim, recently immigrated from Morocco, who doesn't drink and doesn't really get how much Americans drink and... you see why she's a bit concerned. I wonder if anyone threw up in his car last night. I wonder if he's still driving for Uber this morning.
He's from Casablanca. Apparently, whenever someone finds that out, they often say, "Hey, here's looking at you, kid!" and he had no idea why. So he started saying "Here's looking at you!" as a greeting, until someone explained it to him.
Oh, I want to know how that goes!
My early morning portion had a lot of people who'd stayed overnight, including one girl in a mini-skirt and tank top (no coat), and four college kids who'd stayed in an unheated apartment ("It was 42 degrees in there!"). One set of people were on their way to a New Year's Day brunch, with chocolate-bourbon pudding that smelled heavenly, so they definitely win the day.
I was putzing around with the television while being transfused and saw part of the parade in Orlando that ABC was showing before the Rose Parade. That was a really lame parade. Most of the floats were covered with citrus fruits that looked like they had been stuck on randomly and in a hurry.
Oh my gosh, such a wonderfully lazy morning. Feel a bit guilty about it. But all showered and looking forward to meeting up with Connie today!
Ooh, the pudding sounds delicious. I think I am heading over to a friend's house later where they will have greens and hopping john? Or something.
My run was AWESOME this morning!! The last time I ran was Thanksgiving (which was a big fail, thanks to needing to pee so badly in the middle of the race that I couldn't actually RUN because that jiggled too much), and so I wasn't expecting much...but I managed to run the WHOLE FIRST MILE (not my fastest mile ever, but I did not walk at all! Which I don't think I've done in like, seven years). After that it went a little downhill, but in the end I was only about 8 seconds off my personal record, so that was exciting!
Woo, meara! I spent last night with 10 gay men, who have become my CT family. Great time talking, drinking high quality booze and playing trivial pursuit (my team got all of the pies first, but midnight came before we were able to win it all!) Spent the night, the we woke up and had bloody marys, waffles, candied bacon, and cinnamon rolls provided by moi. Really nice night.
Go, meara!
I am on the train home, after three nights in three states and many good times with many different friends! As usual, my only regret is not taking pictures.
Well done, meara!

I need to spend more nights with Vortex.
We went to the NYE celebrations in downtown Delray Beach with family. It had been raining on and off all day so we didn't go until 11pm. It worked out that there was parking 2 blocks from the tennis stadium where they do the dance party and fireworks thing. A good time was had by all.
Today is rainy on and off again so I have been alternating working on the computer, relaxing, and watching bowl games. My book is also calling my name....
Brava, meara!
Our holiday guest left right after dinner last night and we then watched Brooklyn 99 episodes and went to sleep at 11. Not PARTICULARLY festive, but pleasant nonetheless.
