'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My cousin+ walked the Freedom Trail today, then got together with me for a movie and apres-cinema Mr Crepe visit, with a side visit to the candlepin bowling place off Davis Square. They're headed home tomorrow, alas, but they've gotten their Tour on enough, and they'll be back to visit the young'un at her college soon enough.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm hoping they were out walking in the morning! Davis is a good source for indoor amusements, at least....

Yes, through the morning, until it got too rainy.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Went out running today and listening to Snap Judgment as I went, I heard possibly the most horrendous break-up story I have ever, ever heard. There have been worse and crueler break-ups (though this one was pretty bad and pretty cruel), but it's the aftermath that slaughtered the poor guy. It's the last of the five segments. I told Hec about it and he agreed that it sounded pretty freaking brutal.

I walked across the street and watched the City fireworks with a fair number of the neighborhood.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Seabiscuit and I are hanging out in the safe room at my mom and dad's house. You can still hear the fireworks in here, but without the concussive pressure, which seems to be what bothers him. He's sleeping and I have cellular signal for my ipad so we're both happy. Too bad they're selling this house. Although maybe they should add that to the ad copy: safe room, protects people from tornadoes and dogs from fireworks.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm still kind of feeling too sick to go and deal with all the crowds for fireworks, and my sort-of friends here all have other stuff planned for fireworks watching, so I stayed in. I was trying to find fireworks to watch online, and couldn't find anything. Best I've got is a VH-1 concert from Philadelphia, which I tuned into just in time to see DJ Jazzy Jeff.

I really need to move somewhere where I already know people. Because, as my four years here in PA have proven fairly well, I really suck at making new friends.

Got a good look at my tub after the big scrub down. UHG.

So it is now scrubbed within an inch of its ... something. I didn't break out the bartenders friend though.

Our wings are not tired.

At 6 minutes before fireworks time DH said "Let's Go", so we parked in the church parking lot a few steps from the intracoastal bridge and got to the rail as the first one went off.

The bridge rails on both sides filled, but not a big crowd at all. No doubt I wasn't the only one watching the radar. Quite a number of the residents that walked there had been partying all day, but good humor. The attempts to sing patriotic songs and only remembering the openings was quite amusing.

Now I am home and the neighborhood fireworks are continuing in full force. Poor Zoe is snuggling. Not happy.
