Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm still kind of feeling too sick to go and deal with all the crowds for fireworks, and my sort-of friends here all have other stuff planned for fireworks watching, so I stayed in. I was trying to find fireworks to watch online, and couldn't find anything. Best I've got is a VH-1 concert from Philadelphia, which I tuned into just in time to see DJ Jazzy Jeff.

I really need to move somewhere where I already know people. Because, as my four years here in PA have proven fairly well, I really suck at making new friends.

Got a good look at my tub after the big scrub down. UHG.

So it is now scrubbed within an inch of its ... something. I didn't break out the bartenders friend though.

Our wings are not tired.

At 6 minutes before fireworks time DH said "Let's Go", so we parked in the church parking lot a few steps from the intracoastal bridge and got to the rail as the first one went off.

The bridge rails on both sides filled, but not a big crowd at all. No doubt I wasn't the only one watching the radar. Quite a number of the residents that walked there had been partying all day, but good humor. The attempts to sing patriotic songs and only remembering the openings was quite amusing.

Now I am home and the neighborhood fireworks are continuing in full force. Poor Zoe is snuggling. Not happy.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I went over to my uncle's house for holiday dinner and fireworks, got back to my apartment complex half an hour ago and discovered that one of the trash dumpsters was on fire. Not sure if it was started by someone lighting fireworks in the dumpster itself, or not making sure everything was extinguished before throwing out their trash. Either way, they were idiots. Fortunately the fire remained contained by the dumpster and didn't spread to the nearby wooden enclosure, apartment building, or parked cars before it was put out.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Oh, right! Happy "You're not the Boss of Me" Day, Americans!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I really need to move somewhere where I already know people. Because, as my four years here in PA have proven fairly well, I really suck at making new friends.

Me too. I've been here five years and have made one friend. Maybe I could have made others, but I suck at follow-up from friendly casual conversations.

Although maybe they should add that to the ad copy: safe room, protects people from tornadoes and dogs from fireworks.

They really should add that to ad copy! It's a selling point.

Gah. I went to bed at a reasonable hour, and now I'm wide awake at 3am anyway. And my head still hurts. I hope this is not a side effect of the Buspar.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

YNo fireworks for us tonight. Instead Grace had a terrible breathing incident which ended up with paramedics, firemen, a sheriff and an ambulance ride to a hospital in Idaho Falls. I thought she might die and now she is laughing and cracking jokes. So I guess our trip across the country will be called off.
