Hope the viral thing gets better, zuisa. I have limited experience flying anywhere on one-way tickets, but it seems to add annoyances even domestically.
Anne, I was resigning myself to being one of those people who suddenly shows up at the gym in January after months of not being there, but then I discovered that I have not, in fact, registered for that triathlon in April so I can pick up swimming again later and do my New Year running at an outdoor track (or in my neighborhood, but I am excited to know where a track is for more precise mileage/not having to wait for traffic). So when I do creep back to the gym it won't be with a huge crowd of other people doing the same thing, maybe.
Trying to get moving. Been lazing around and reading all morning. There are quantities of family arriving this afternoon and stuff needs to be done.
Also, my phone decided to expire. It is old, but it gave no warning. Just died. I might see if a new battery does the trick although it had been holding a charge well enough. Bother.
-t, the other thing tracks are wonderful for is that they're usually a lot easier on the joints than doing straight road-work.
Also, I thought I should clarify that I'm by no means irked that people are going back to the gym. Going back is a good thing! It's just that over the year, the regulars find a schedule that works with what they want to do, and the influx of new people means having to re-adjust those schedules. Grump, grump, grump.
Ooh, I totally forgot about the track being a more forgiving surface. More excitement!
But first, walking the dog, for lo he has been very patient.
I am home. Immediately took a three hour nap, which I so needed.
Bowling, laser tag and a margarita as big as my head. And apparently now is family game night. Whee!
I've done nothing for the last two days but sleep, read, catch up on DVRed tv, and sleep. It's great. Mr. Bathroom Scale tells me I've lost two more pounds in the last two weeks, which is surprising, considering holiday food. Oh, look, there's some holiday food now. Well, better get rid of that!
I have been so busy with family and hanging out that I have not spent nearly any time on FB or here, and have read only ONE book! Madness. Though I will admit I've read quite a number of Yuletide fics.
So I did my one mile test run (between that and warming up and cooling down and taking the dog for what turned into a 2+ mile walk I've put in a good 5 miles today, which feels pretty good) and my time is higher than the highest reference time on the chart to tell me my "speed zones". Sigh.
But the track is kind of awesome. So springy! So little opportunity to trip over something or have a small child run into you! Definitely a good find.
