I am celebrating freedom by going to a matinee of How To Train Your Dragon 2. Until 2 minutes ago, I was the only one here.

Took a stroll downtown - the Fourth of July do on the plaza is pretty meh so far. I was hoping for tempting food vendors, but nothing really looked good. I'll give it another try in the evening, maybe, the view of the fireworks from over there is a little better than from my porch.
We went to the Northside parade with Steph and Tim and friends and family! Northside is truly the Athens, GA of Cincinnati. There was a 50 year old man across the street from us in overalls dancing to the songs on the floats that went by and he was truly inspiring in his boogie.
My thoughts, are with you, Connie.
Participated in the parade and now we are taking a break before heading over to the festivities in the park.
A friend and I went to the town hall where we listened to a band playing the armed forces themes. Then the parade arrived. I ate a hotdog, listened to some more music, and hit the library book sale tables. We went to a local coffee house for iced coffees and then called it a day. The temperature was less heinous than it's been for the last couple of weeks, but it's still warmer than I like. So I'm lazing about for the hot hours, and I'll go out and about again this evening, when it's cooler.
My sister and her BF are meeting me for dinner, and then we'll sit on the wall beside the bank and watch the fireworks in the valley. That's all the celebration I can deal with. I wouldn't even do that if they weren't here. I have a headache and I wish I could beg off, but I know they won't go if I don't.
I am staying in and listening to the rain and getting ready for my houseguests tomorrow. I finally washed the kitchen floor, which means I can't go back in there for a while, so back to the sofa it is!
We have my mom here for 10 days. We went out for breakfast but no fireworks since our big white poodle is TERRIFIED of the noise and we stay home, wrap him in a Thundershirt, and keep an eye on him to keep him of from getting too upset. Poor guy.
I'm off to the Braves game.
Currently in Atlanta waiting for my connection home. My day started in Belfast at 6am their time, but I managed a nap on the first flight from Dublin and am feeling okay. I’m hopeful that Drew will pick me up and we will beat the post-fireworks traffic home from LAX (not to mention at the Rose Bowl). If I get in on time and my bag makes the transfer, I think we will be getting home right around the time they end. It was an amazing trip. I posted a photo album to FB but should probably throw it over onto Flickr for folks who aren’t there. Beautiful country.
