Very convincing. Makes me completely want to put myself under government control. Please take me to where you can make me unconscious and naked.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My student brought her puppy to work. I told her she could do it today only because very, very few people are here. We are a fairly dog-friendly building, but 2 of the deans do not like it, so it is really only professors or people who report to a different dean who do it. My student (of course) doesn't really see the distinction, but after about an hour she said, "I am never bringing the dog again because it is so distracting!". Live and learn

My dog is the perfect office dog in that people generally don't realize she's there. Until she dozing and making huge grumble happy sighs. But it's also a vet and she gets anxiety thinking people will poke and prod her. Given we aren't technically pet-friendly, that usually happens. But she needs to get comfortable with the medical too. Mostly she naps in the corner and people are surprised to see her. It's mostly me socializing her and getting her more comfy with actual vet staff. That really explains at least two vax that she has. Lyme isn't a big risk in her life but she had a whole day at work!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Oh, Connie. I'm so sorry.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Connie, I'm so sorry. That was quite a lot of living he packed in there. It's good you got to be part of so much of it.

I'm currently answering a Jamaica AMA on IO9 natter and playing (and beating) 7 random people on Scrabble. I should be reading art books. I will be. In a sec.

I am celebrating freedom by going to a matinee of How To Train Your Dragon 2. Until 2 minutes ago, I was the only one here.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Took a stroll downtown - the Fourth of July do on the plaza is pretty meh so far. I was hoping for tempting food vendors, but nothing really looked good. I'll give it another try in the evening, maybe, the view of the fireworks from over there is a little better than from my porch.

information libertarian

We went to the Northside parade with Steph and Tim and friends and family! Northside is truly the Athens, GA of Cincinnati. There was a 50 year old man across the street from us in overalls dancing to the songs on the floats that went by and he was truly inspiring in his boogie.

My thoughts, are with you, Connie.

Participated in the parade and now we are taking a break before heading over to the festivities in the park.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

A friend and I went to the town hall where we listened to a band playing the armed forces themes. Then the parade arrived. I ate a hotdog, listened to some more music, and hit the library book sale tables. We went to a local coffee house for iced coffees and then called it a day. The temperature was less heinous than it's been for the last couple of weeks, but it's still warmer than I like. So I'm lazing about for the hot hours, and I'll go out and about again this evening, when it's cooler.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My sister and her BF are meeting me for dinner, and then we'll sit on the wall beside the bank and watch the fireworks in the valley. That's all the celebration I can deal with. I wouldn't even do that if they weren't here. I have a headache and I wish I could beg off, but I know they won't go if I don't.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am staying in and listening to the rain and getting ready for my houseguests tomorrow. I finally washed the kitchen floor, which means I can't go back in there for a while, so back to the sofa it is!
