I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ew.

Sounds reasonable to me, but I've never charged a landlord except by prior agreement.

Our wings are not tired.

Is Kat here, or anyone who can answer Hawaii questions? I am reading a fic with a lot of white people talking like native Hawaiians, and calling mainlanders haole. I thought all white people in Hawaii were haole, though. Is this a "brother from another mother" situation?

We were all definitely haoles, not just the mainlanders. But I can only account for the 1970s, when I was a kid living in Hilo. And in the 70s Hilo for an elementary kid it was clear that haole could be a term of endearment just as readily as a perjorative. It all depended on who was speaking and the tone used. All of my neighbors were aunties and uncles (none white) and they all referred to me as "our haole Nani" (Nani was my childhood nickname, and it roughly translated to "beautiful whitey" together like that, so it always got a laugh).

Question of the morning - does mr. flea have the flu, or not? He was shivering so hard in bed (in long johns, under a down comforter) at 2am that he woke me up. He has body aches now. Thermometer says 99.5, so not a high fever. He think it's more likely to be food poisoning. Food poisoning symptom lists do not generally include body aches and shivering.

If it's flu, I should probably stay home from work (if I'm going, I need to leave the house in half an hour) and manhandle him to urgent care to see if he's eligible for Tamiflu. And we'll need to cancel our visit to the zoo with a 2 year old tonight. If it's bad tummy, he could be fine by noon.

I think it's flu. He's the only person in our family who didn't get a flu shot. I have 4 coworkers who were out all week with flu.

Help! I wish I had an adult to talk to, besides the sick guy.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

If he is not throwing up it is not food poisoning. Stay home.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

If he is not throwing up it is not food poisoning.

Or expelling partly used food from the other end . But yeah, I'd stay home.

I am home, and trying to persuade him to go to urgent care and get tested, and Tamiflu'd if necessary. He still thinks it is not flu.

Tell Mr. Flea that we vote for the doctor.
