I was really hoping for storms today, or at least threatening cloud cover. Committed myself and staff to greenhouse work, and we fucking
roasted.
But, the greenhouse is pretty once again, and we repotted a whole bunch of orchids and my intern started making a really cool log mount for two staghorn ferns that I bought. And our carnivorous plant collection is growing and becoming quite pretty. The sundew is already dotted with gnats (this one is called Octopus, it has red "tentacles"). Way cool.
It's just constantly
rumbling
out there. Jeez.
I want rumblees. I miss my parents screened porch where we could sit during proper storms and enjoy the thunder and lightning and get just a bit misted from the rain.
Aaand, there's the rain!
I am so looking forward to a rainy no-plans day tomorrow!
I went to the Constitution (and museum) with cousin and family. Almost melted a couple times -- despite drinking a full bottle of water, I had next to no pee after 5 hours! The human body, it is wacky.
Tom's second answer was right. 5^32.
I have purchased hopefully enough paint for the railing and new sanding discs in case I go nuts and start in on the adirondack chair.
I've organized it all so I just have one tub to haul out- cords and tarps and tools!
And damnit, if I want a full 2 mile swim tomorrow, gotta go at 7 to avoid the mean people. Ugh.
I've unpacked, gotten groceries, made plans for the 4th, and I'm ignoring the fact that I have a ridonk number of work emails in my inbox. I'm processing through my photos of Ecuador in batches and I'll be posting them to the book of the face.
Also, my roommate decided to adopt two kittens while I was out of the country, so I'm spending a lot of time playing "Mine!" and "Get out of there, cat."
That's quite a welcome, shrift! Bet they loved the unpacking...you made new best friends!
Gave Loki what I think will be his last bupes. He had no issues eating when it had completely worn off, so he's probably good. Other than the stoned part, he's given no indication he's even aware of his stitches. And I can see them.
