Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I work by the secondary kitchen area here, and it's to the point where I'm excited if anyone else replaces the paper towels. People!

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Hey editors and other knowledgable people:

I'm editing a MSS using CMoS 16th ed. There's a book title at the end of a section of dialogue and I have searched for 20 minutes to see if it should be "Book Title."" or 'Book Title.'"

Any help?

Also, scuba divers? Are C.A.L.M. and/or R.E.L.A.X diving acronyms? I scoured 7 scuba acronym pages and couldn't find them? Am I just blind??

Any help appreciated!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, that sounds kind of great.

It's pretty good, as work holiday parties go! People grumble if it's a movie they didn't want to see and they'd rather be running errands or whatever, but it's nice to have some enforced leisure, I think, especially since it counts as work time paycheck-wise.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Had the career chat with my manager. I think it went well. Of course, in the same discussion I also got raise and bonus information. It was better than I was expecting it to be, so now I'm all, "Ha ha, oops, I guess you do appreciate me?" I still think moving into a different org is the right thing to do, but it would be nice to do it without any acrimony.

That's awesome, shrift! Fingers remain crossed for you.

I somehow didn't realize I had an early morning training today (I swear they must've moved the time), and was up until about 1:30AM last night. Ouch.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Better to be unexpectedly surprised in that way, shrift. Much better.

Sorry Strix, I don't know from CMoS. Have you looked at the OWL at Purdue? OWL stands for online writing lab. Tends to be my go-to when students need to look up formatting questions.

Because books.

Strix, Book Title would be in single quotes in that example.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I met a Pomsky today -- that's a mix between a Pomeranian and a Husky. Adorable mini-Husky, and so very calm, too -- the passenger held her dog all through the ride without a peep from the dog.

brillig

Adorable mini-Husky

That sounds like my perfect dog. Fluffy and small and loveable and not yapping all over.

Given the size disparity of the two breeds, would Mom have been the Husky?
