OK! I have done work stuff. I have rescheduled hair appointment due to rescheduled work stuff. I have purchased presents to be delivered to my sister's house (thanks in part to Buffista suggestions!)...I now only need presents for her and for my brother. And my roommate, possibly. And to SHIP some other presents. And maybe find something awesome for my roommate, but I have no idea what.
Other onerous tasks remain, however. Putting off some by doing others is good but...only for so long.
Good point Jesse. I was just hearing an implicit "I did everything you asked, what more do you want from me?" which is mostly just ME AND MY ISSUES and not really implied in what Jessica wrote.
I was not trying to say you have issues! You are fine!!!
So that was quick - basically they dropped the offer because I asked for too much money, which I kind of suspected but isn't it more standard to just offer less and then let me accept or decline?
Anyway, is there a non-pathetic way to backtrack and say "Actually my work situation sucks so much now I'd be willing to work for a lot less!" I'm thinking the word "flexible" will come into play...
Flexible sounds right. "I'm willing to show some flexibility in compensation since [position] seems like such a good fit for my skills" maybe? If that is true.
'Flexibility' is your friend. Bend like the willow!
Uber texted me (and the rest of the drivers, of course) that they're offering $10 guaranteed fares 4-8pm, because of the Nor'easter. I'm tempted to take them up on it, since I've been itching to Make Money for two days now.
Stay safe if you do!
People are in a tizzy about the storm that is supposed to hit us tomorrow evening. I may be too blase about wind and rain.
OMG actual fortune cookie I just opened: "Sometimes in life you just have to play hardball." THANKS COOKIE I KNOW OK.
I'm not sure that cookie has your best interests at heart, Jess. You can't always trust baked goods, much as I would like to.
I've gotten that fortune!
Listen to the cookie!! Or don't -- that does sound like a wacky way to handle being asked for too much money. But what do I know?
The weather is really horrifying here. I'm trying to decide how much time to leave to get where I'm going after work, because I bet many many buses will be too full to get on. Maybe taking the subway (the long way around) is actually a better choice today.
